After 70 years on the British throne, Queen Elizabeth II has seen it all — from world wars, political turmoil, and a long list of royal scandals.
Her Majesty‘s oldest son and heir to the throne, Prince Charles, has brought the kingdom one humiliating drama after another.
The scandals unfolded during his marriage to Prince Diana and bitter divorce, and his cheating with then-mistress, Camilla Parker Bowles, who would later become his wife.
Aware of the stain he brought to the monarchy, Prince Charles, in 2005, after his intimate wedding, promised that Camilla Parker Bowles would not inherit the title of Queen when he became King.
Back then, Prince Charles issued a statement explaining that his wife would not become Queen Consort when he sits on the throne.
He stated: “It is intended that The Duchess will be known as HRH The Princess Consort.”
Prince Charles initially took that decision to avoid further angering the British people, who have yet to forgive Camilla Parker Bowles for her inappropriate and scandalous actions during the Diana era.
Fast forward to 2022, Prince Charles appears to have tossed his words out of the window and has Queen Elizabeth’s full support to do so.
Queen Elizabeth decided to open the new year with the surprising decision to give her controversial daughter-in-law the highest honor there is — Lady of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.
In a quiet ceremony, The Duchess of Cornwall was elevated to the nation’s most prestigious order of chivalry for her contribution to the monarchy via her numerous charity works.
According to one royal expert, the move from Her Majesty rang alarm bells and immediately started the chatter that Camilla will land the title of Queen in the future.
Royal historian and author Hugo Vickers explained that Prince Charles’s wife’s new title clearly signals how highly respected she is by Queen Elizabeth.
He told The Mail on Sunday: “It comes at the beginning of what will be the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year, binding together the inner circle of the Royal Family after 12 months of turbulence, controversy, and deep personal loss.”
He added: “But, more than that, it paves the way for the Duchess to become not only Queen by right when Prince Charles succeeds to the throne but Queen by name. That is surely what will now happen.”
Royal expert and author Robert Jobson revealed that Prince Charles only issued the statement to bamboozle the British people because he always knew that his wife would become Queen.
Prince Charles’s plan all along was to give Britons time to change their negative opinion of his wife.
Jobson said: “The critical word in this statement, of course, was ‘intended.’ What Clarence House was doing was buying time — time for a hostile public to warm to Camilla. Prince Charles, however, has always intended her to become his Queen Consort. According to an inside source, he’d already decided that before their wedding.”
Camilla might have played her cards right.
