With a brief and sharp statement, Queen Elizabeth II announced her first-ever balcony ban for the celebrations around her Platinum Jubilee in June.
Via Buckingham Palace, the statement that was issued said that the 96-year-old Majesty has decided to limit the number of people who will appear during the Trooping the Colour.
This year, only a handful of working members of the British royal family, including Prince Charles, Prince Louis, Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince Charles, will appear on the balcony.
More than 30 royal family members have been cut from the centerpiece of the festivities that will mark the Queen’s 70th year on the throne.
Many jaws dropped when it was confirmed that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two young children, Archie and Lilibet Diana, would not gather with the rest of the royals on the famous balcony.
Those, who back Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in their wild adventure to be independent royals who share their truths and earn salaries, were disappointed by Queen Elizabeth’s decision.
With the Queen’s much-talked-about mobility issues and her age, many royal observers pointed out it would probably be one of the last times she could physically stand on the balcony with the royal family.
However, a recent report has surfaced explaining that it was not the Queen who deemed that Prince Harry and Markle were persona non grata.
Au contraire, Queen Elizabeth wanted to make a sweet and public gesture towards Prince Harry and Markle.
A royal source, who spoke to Star via OK! said that Prince William and his father, Prince Charles, believed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not worthy of appearing on the balcony and put their foot down.
The person claimed that the Queen wanted to have the renegade couple by her side.
The insider told the publication: “They feel that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have caused nothing but chaos since moving to America with their endless tell-alls and interviews throwing shade at the royal family.”
The person familiar with the situation shared: “They think it would be hypocritical of Harry and Meghan acting all smiles and waving to the crowds from the balcony like they’re one big, happy family.”
Following Prince Harry and Markle’s move to California, they took part in a series of bombshell interviews and dropped humiliating revelations about the royal family that made it inconceivable that they would be given spots on the balcony.
The Palace source claimed: “They feel that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have caused nothing but chaos since moving to America with their endless tell-alls and interviews throwing shade at the royal family. They think it would be hypocritical of Harry and Meghan acting all smiles and waving to the crowds from the balcony like they’re one big, happy family.”
There is a possibility that Prince William and Prince Charles could have considered the 2021 interviews as bygones, but Prince Harry’s latest chit-chat on NBC was too much for the heirs to the throne to handle.
It has been revealed that the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge were left furious over Prince Harry’s confession to TODAY‘s Hoda Kotb that he wanted to protect the Queen and make sure that she is surrounded by the “the right people.”
Prince William and Prince Charles took the comment as “a personal dig.”
OK! reports that “on the other hand, the Queen was reportedly open to the idea of having the Sussexes by her side on the balcony.”
A source close to Markle and Prince Harry said that they do not care about being on the balcony and are looking forward to spending time with Queen Elizabeth and giving her the opportunity to bond with their children.
