Markle and her husband were seen after having a meeting with Prince Charles that was described as “brief,” and there were little efforts made to smoothen the rocky relationship.
Royal expert Christopher Andersen says on a recent episode of the Royally Us podcast that Prince Harry felt that the curtain came down on his relationship with his father after the hasty and cold interaction.
The royal commentator shared: “Well, I understand that it was a perfunctory meeting and that there was no real breakthrough. And I have a feeling that Prince Harry definitely went there hoping for some sort of rapprochement, but there were no touchy-feely vibes coming back in his direction. So I think the curtain has come down.”
He went on to say why Prince Charles should try to better understand Prince Harry’s situation by saying: “And one of the things I think is so sad about this is Diana, were she alive today, would be heartbroken by this. She would have understood why Harry would have wanted to make his own life and wanted to go to California. But she always saw Harry as, you know, as William’s wingman. She always said, ‘My boys are my revenge.’ And what she meant by that was that, as a team, they would go on and carry the monarchy forward into a more modern era. But now it just looks like it’s going to be William and Kate and their kids.”
Camilla Parker Bowles has joined her husband in the reconciliation process.
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who made her debut in the pages of British Vogue, gave a glimpse of her estate, Clarence House, where she has a photo of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry sitting “in the primo spot upfront.”
The future king and Bowles are expected to spend some time with Markle, Prince Harry, and their children this summer.
