Prince Harry is ceding the spotlight to his wife, Meghan Markle. The 41-year-old former actress is trying her best to capitalize on this opening with her new Spotify podcast, Archetypes.
Markle released the first episode of her big venture on Tuesday with tennis legend Serena Williams as a guest. It was not a big hit with British critics, who say it was just another opportunity for Markle to talk about herself.
However, this might be enough to keep the public busy and focused on the Sussexes as Prince Harry plans his next big move. Royal experts now say that his tell-all book might not get released later this year as planned.
The much-anticipated memoir could be delayed until 2023. The usual moves associated with such a big release have not been happening. An insider told Page Six: “things are up in the air.”
Several things are behind the delay. The top reason, former First Lady Michelle Obama plans to release her new book, The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times, on November 15.
With the success of the previous one Becoming, Obama is expected to dominate the market around the crucial holiday season, which is very important for the book industry.
The second element is that Harry is not yet sure how far he is willing to go with the memoir. The prince is taking his time to weigh his different options.
A source told the publication: “I have heard that Harry has some truth bombs in his book that he is debating on whether to include or not. So this [delay] is no surprise if he needs more time to work on the book.”
According to reports, ghostwriter JR Moehringer is done with his part. However, changes are still possible.
Royal insiders believe that Prince Harry will not hold back in sharing his truth because the market demands nothing less.
Moreover, if Markle’s podcast is any indication, the renegade couple is not done talking about the pain and suffering that come with being members of the British royal family.
While the 37-year-old father of two might avoid confronting his relatives directly, telling his truth on his own terms will almost certainly cause some damage.
The royal family is prepared for things to get really messy. That is why Prince William and Kate Middleton snubbed them during Queen Elizabeth‘s Platinum Jubilee in June.
Markle’s podcast has generated some buzz this week, but it is not clear that she will be able to keep on doing this until Harry’s book is released.
