Meghan Markle is the one who dominated the interview in The Cut, but days later, a surprising revelation made by Prince Harry has caught the attention of royal observers.
It appears that during his sit-down with the New York Magazine, Prince Harry took a thin swipe at his brother, Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton.
The reporter revealed in her lengthy piece that she visited Prince Harry and Markle’s stunning Montecito mansion. She said that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex happily worked from home.
The couple has a large desk and two giant chairs that look like thrones. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex sit side by side to conduct business and push their charity, Archewell.
Interviewer Allison P. Davis wrote: “The two-run Archewell from their shared home office, specifically from two plush club chairs placed side by side behind a single desk, facing into the room like thrones.”
In the interview, Prince Harry confessed that his working relationship with his wife “feels natural and normal.” Prince Harry went on to share some rather embarrassing information about the royals by saying: “…many of my family, they aren’t able to work and live together.”
Davis also pointed out that Prince Harry “enunciates [the word] family with a vocal eye roll.”
According to Palace Confidential host Jo Elvin, Prince Harry’s comment looks like “a swipe at his elder brother, Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton.”
Elvin, who sat down with The Mail on Sunday‘s editor-at-large, Charlotte Griffiths, said: “Prince Harry, Charlotte, made another broadside statement about the family, a strange comment, about how many of my family aren’t able to live and work together.”
Griffiths defended Prince William and Middleton by saying: “Do you imagine the Cambridges might have a view on that? I mean, if he means the Cambridges, I think William and Kate work beautifully together. The one person that the Cambridges couldn’t work with is Prince Harry, so he had to move out of Kensington Palace.”
She added: “I don’t know if he’s alluding to something to do with Clarence House and maybe Prince Charles being difficult to work with. It’s ambiguous as usual.”
Griffiths concluded by: “I think the Cambridges work beautifully together. Very much they all, sort of, stick together, the remaining royals, don’t they.”
Prince Harry’s latest dig at the royals will certainly not help his crumbling relationship with the heir to the throne.
According to royal author Omid Scobie, Prince William will not reconcile with Prince Harry until he apologizes for leaking humiliating stories about the royals.
He wrote: “Equally, adds the friend, Prince William is “still waiting” for an apology from his brother for making details of private family matters public. “When you look at the bare facts, it becomes obvious why it is pretty much the same state of affairs as years ago.”
He also shared: “What [Harry] is waiting for is accountability… Many lines were crossed by William. He was at the center of a number of painful moments, be it the actions of his own staff or turning his back when support was needed. It was a dark time and one that, so far, William has been unprepared to unpack.”
It seems that the death of Queen Elizabeth II is not going to change anything in the two brothers’ problematic relationship.
