Prince Harry celebrated his 38th birthday in a very somber manner. The former soldier’s special day fell as the UK and the rest of the world are mourning Queen Elizabeth II‘s death.
Sources close to Prince Harry confirmed that he had no plans for September 15th because he would be observing the mourning period.
King Charles III has announced that the royal mourning period will last until one week after Her Majesty‘s funeral.
It is believed that Prince Harry had a quiet and reflective dinner/moment with his wife, Meghan Markle, as he deals with the emotions of losing her grandmother.
Despite the heaviness on Prince Harry’s heart, some royal experts claim that there is a possibility that Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s gestures in the past few days brought in a ray of light.
Hinting at what could be the beginning of reconciliation, Prince William reached out to Prince Harry and Markle for a walkabout at Windsor.
Royal author and friend of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Omid Scobie, revealed that an invitation to dinner was extended by Middleton and Prince William.
The journalist said a Palace spokesperson confirmed the dinner invite and added: “The Prince of Wales invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to join him and the Princess of Wales earlier.”
Prince William’s kind gestures toward Prince Harry continued with an unexpected and reassuring comment about his birthday.
The heir to the throne met well-wishers and mourners at Sandringham, and one of them reached out to ask if he remembered it was Prince Harry’s birthday.
Prince William happily responded by saying: “It is his birthday today – you’re absolutely right, it is.”
When asked if he had forgotten, Prince William was happy to reply: “No, I’ve not forgotten.” Jennie Bond, formerly a former correspondent for the BBC, spoke of her belief that Prince William and Kate Middleton might have had a touching gesture of comfort and reconciliation toward Prince Harry on his birthday.
Bond said: “You have to feel for Harry on what will be just a very quiet day.”
She added: “Maybe it will give pause for thought, and William and Kate might pop round with a pizza or something! It’s going to be another incredibly sad birthday for Harry, which will surely recall memories of 25 years ago when he turned 13 a couple of weeks after his mother died.”
The truce between the brothers means that they will reunite multiple times this weekend in events honoring Her Majesty.
