The rift between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and the rest of the British royal family is taking a lot of time to heal.
The death of Queen Elizabeth has made the tension between the two sides less public and visible, but lingering issues still remain.
It is almost impossible to predict which role the renegade royals will play in the monarchy under the rule of King Charles III. The new Monarch has been very careful, at least publicly, when it comes to the way he approaches Prince Harry and his wife.
In his first speech as a ruler, King Charles talked about his love for them but made sure to remind people that they are overseas. He also refused to give their full titles to the California residents’ two children — Archie and Lilibet Diana.
King Charles did not stop there; he uninvited the couple to a big state gathering at Buckingham Palace with world leaders and dignitaries. Moreover, the King made sure that The Queen‘s “ER” initials were removed from his son’s military uniform before a somber vigil.
All the moves have a primary goal, to make it clear to the world that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer working royals. For The Sovereign, it should not come as a surprise that they can no longer use some of the little perks that come from being a full-time royal.
Observers thought the powerful pair would just return home after the mourning period without making much noise. However, this might not be the case.
While they are avoiding clashes, Markle and her husband seem to be trying to put their cards on the table. The former actress is said to have requested a one-to-one meeting with the King before leaving for California in the name of healing.
She wants to give peace one last chance because the passing of Her Majesty left her devastated. A famed royal expert with deep ties to the royal family broke the news earlier today.
Neil Sean said on his YouTube channel: “She’d now like before they return back to California to have a one-to-one audience with King Charles III. That’s right—Meghan one-to-one with King Charles. You heard correctly. It’s a very brave move from Meghan herself.”
Mr. Sean continued: “It would be an opportunity to clear the air, pull the rights from wrongs and explain some of the rationale behind what they’ve been doing over the last two years. Now, you know, you have to admire Meghan’s self-belief, whatever you think.”
The commentator is not sure that Markle’s so-called “bold move” will work. He concluded: “Truthfully, we have no idea if this is going to go forward. This is how you write to the King through his query, and of course, that’s passed on.”
The former actress has always been full of confidence, and her gesture has put The King in a unique and weird position. If he turns down her olive branch, he becomes the bad guy, and she can claim the high road.
However, if he accepts, some of their exchanges could get leaked to the media. While this has not been reported, Markle would probably not have done this without the support of her husband, Prince Harry.
King Charles is in a no-win situation after Markle’s brilliant chess move.
