The father of two pushed back the release of his tell-all memoir to 2023. It was supposed to be out around Thanksgiving in the US. The official reason for the delay was to show respect to his late grandmother.
However, sources close to the publishing world say that the renegade prince is rewriting parts of the book because he does not want to offend the new King.
Prince Harry has to find the right balance between being authentic and crossing the line to say inappropriate things about his father and other British royals. Editing the memoir is a good step to making peace with the family, but it may not be enough to convince King Charles.
So, the two rebellious royals are going further to prove that they really want the truce to last. According to the latest reports, they are now trying to edit their Netflix docu-series.
The streaming giant wanted to debut the program after the fifth season of The Crown that is debuting on November 9. However, with the couple’s desire to smooth things with the royals, it will probably get pushed back.
A source told Page Six: “A lot of conversations are happening. I hear that Harry and Meghan want the series to be held until next year; they want to stall. I wonder if the show could even be dead in the water at this point, do Harry and Meghan just want to shelve this thing?”
A second insider explained: “Netflix has been keen to have the show ready to stream for December. There’s a lot of pressure on (Netflix CEO) Ted Sarandos, who has a relationship with Harry and Meghan, to get this show finished.”
Some observers are wondering how much bending will Netflix be willing to do to keep the royal couple happy. The company has made a considerable investment and will want some returns.
