It is not easy being King of England with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry making big moves left and right. King Charles III wants to protect the British monarchy at all costs, but he is facing unpredictable rivals.
After the death of Queen Elizabeth II, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to adopt a more low-key attitude.
They accepted all that was asked of them and made sure not to grab the spotlight from the new Sovereign. The renegade royals did not even hit back when faced with humbling situations.
For example, King Charles invited and then uninvited them to a big event with presidents, royals, and other world leaders. Moreover, the King is still holding out when it comes to the full titles of Archie and Lilibet Diana.
According to insiders, The Palace was quite pleased with these moves and even started believing that it had the upper hand in the battle against the Sussexes.
However, after the release of an official photo to mark the beginning of King Charles’s reign, the power couple struck back two days later with two pictures of their own.
Some were quick to say that the new King was erasing the Sussexes by posing in a relaxed fashion with Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.
The assessment was wrong because the Sussexes recaptured the spotlight quickly with their photographs. It was a brutal reminder for King Charles that the California residents have more star power than the other members of the Royal Family.
It is hard for King Charles to sleep at night when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can strike at any given time. Wherever the couple goes, the media will follow. The photo dump from the Sussexes was a real tour de force.
It is now being reported that the couple is taking on Netflix over the tone of their docu-series. The move sounds good for King Charles, but there is a big problem.
Netflix is against making big changes to the series and wants to move forward with the project.
A source told Page Six: “Harry and Meghan are panicked about trying to tone down even the most basic language. But it’s their story, from their own mouths.”
A second insider added: “They’ve made significant requests to walk back content they themselves have provided — to the extent that some Netflix staff believe, if granted, it will effectively shelve the project indefinitely.”
Other sources insist that Netflix will move forward regardless of the couple’s objections. This development is fascinating on many levels.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle get to have their cake and eat it too. With their “fight” with the streaming giant, they get to create a lot of buzz for the series before the release.
The couple can also use the tension as a form of plausible deniability. They can claim that they tried hard to remove the incendiary parts from the series, and Netflix is to blame for their release.
With such a plan, they get to take the high road and, at the same time, give Netflix great content. King Charles will have a hard time making the duo irrelevant in an era that loves drama.
