It is not all lost for the royal family, for it has been revealed that King Charles III is still hopeful, and plans are underway to reach out to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sooner than later.
In a new interview with Fox News Digital, royal author Katie Nicholl revealed that King Charles is heartbroken by the situation with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
His Majesty is also hurt by all the painful events that transpired since the couple’s decision to step down from their royal duties.
According to Vanity Fair‘s royal correspondent, the King holds a lot of love in his heart for his two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, and he embraced Markle when she married into the royal family in 2018.
The author of the book New Royals: Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown, said that Camilla, Queen Consort, and King Charles spent many vacations with the couple, and everything seemed well.
Their abrupt exit from England was heartbreaking for the King and Queen.
She told the media outlet: “Charles absolutely has been devastated by what has happened. If you think back just a couple of years around the time of [the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s] wedding, the relationship between Harry and his father was, I think, probably better than it ever had been… Harry and Meghan spent time with Charles and Camilla in Scotland. They went on holiday together. It all looked very rosy and very happy.”
How King Charles sees his family, especially his two children, has changed since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
More than ever, the King is eyeing a reconciliation with Prince Harry and Markle. Nicholl told the Fox News streaming platform: “I think Charles has been devastated by how things have spiraled. And he is hopeful that there will be a reconciliation. I think we saw that in the very… public olive branches that were extended to Harry and Meghan. After the queen’s death, particularly in that first speech that Charles gave to the nation, he spoke of his love for Harry and Meghan.”
She went on to predict that the guessing game and confusion over the titles for his grandchildren — Archie and Lilibet Diana — will soon be over.
The royal expert believes that King Charles will offer a final olive branch to Prince Harry and Markle with the titles for their young children.
She revealed: “He addressed them on first-name terms. He made the concession to allow Harry to wear his uniform when he was standing vigil by the queen’s coffin… And, of course, there’s the matter of titles, whether [his grandchildren] Archie and Lilibet will get [them]. Will that be… the final olive branch that is offered? I think we’ll hear about that imminently.”
Many believe that King Charles picked Archie’s birthday, May 6th, as the date of his coronation as a sign of what is to come for the royal family.
