A lot had transpired in the royal family before Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, decided to exit their royal duties and move to California.
A newly-published book by royal expert Angela Levin gave a glimpse of the relationships between Camilla Parker Bowles, King Charles III, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle.
In Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall: A Royal Survivor, Levin quoted royal insiders, courtiers, and staff members shedding light on what went on in the Palace walls.
According to the book about Camilla, Queen Consort attempted to give Meghan Markle the “warm” welcome she deserved when she married into the British family.
However, Queen Consort Camilla’s grand gestures and suggestions “fell flat.” The book reveals one particular act of kindness King Charles and his spouse offered to Markle that backfired and left them feeling hurt.
Levin wrote about King Charles and Queen Camilla hosting a surprise lunch for The Duchess of Sussex inspired by her book, and she was unresponsive to the gesture.
Via The Telegraph, it was revealed: “The Queen Consort and King Charles wanted to show their support and invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, plus their friend, Lucia Santa Cruz, to lunch at Highgrove. Lucia recalls: “As a surprise, Camilla went out of her way to make sure the lunch consisted only of recipes from Meghan’s cookbook, and that included a very hot salsa. It was a really nice gesture.” One that made no impact.”
The author claimed despite Markle’s rejection of the Queen Consort, she continued to make efforts and suggestions.
Aware that it was difficult for the newcomers to the royal family, Queen Camilla had lunches with the former American actress and offered her advice on how to handle the pressure.
A source at the time told Levin: “She doesn’t want to see anyone struggling, and she is fond of Meghan.”
In her exposé, Angela Levin painted a not-so-rosy portrait when it comes to the relationship between Queen Consort Camilla and her stepson, Prince Harry.
She wrote: “The Duchess always felt quite wary of Harry and used to see him out of the corner of her eye looking at her in a long and cold way. She found it rather unnerving. Otherwise, they got on quite well.”
Many royal experts can smell a mile away the revelations that Prince Harry has in his tell-all book about his stepmother.
It has been reported that King Charles is very much worried about what scandal or painful moment involving his wife that Prince Harry will unearth in the memoir.
