King Charles III is trying his best not to be upfront about his long-term plans for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The new Sovereign says sweet things about the couple, but he has not been kind to them with his actions. During Queen Elizabeth‘s funeral, he found many little ways to make them feel small.
Moreover, it was later revealed that his real goal is to make the two activists irrelevant when it comes to royal life. King Charles is also not moving fast with the titles for his two grandchildren — Archie and Lilibet Diana.
The King is waiting to read Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir before making a call about Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
There is also the upcoming docu-series that could be a problem for the British monarchy. His Majesty is applying pressure wherever he can to make sure that the content the couple puts out does not affect the Royal Family in a meaningful way.
However, King Charles fails to understand that the power couple has a lavish lifestyle that comes with a high cost. Moreover, he is not putting any financial offer on the table for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex to tone things down.
The current ruler is working on slimming down the monarchy. So, he is not inclined to cover the expenses of the two philanthropists.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle need money and will have to do what it takes to get it. Unfortunately for King Charles, salacious family secrets and drama sell.
Netflix, Penguin Random House, and Spotify paid a lot of money to have those juicy stories, and they will not accept anything less in return.
Even if the Sussexes wanted to walk back on those major deals, they would not be able to do it because the couple needs the cash.
Moreover, at the moment, they do not have other sources of income. In clear, the couple is not in a position to play nice even if they wanted to.
Royal expert Tom Bower and author of Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle do not have a choice.
He told GB News: “They need the money, and they need it now more than ever because they’ve got no other source of income. So I think they’re just stuck with the devil now. They’re tied to Netflix; they’re tied to their book. And all the criticism they’re going to take means nothing because that’s the only way they can earn their money.”
He continued: “I don’t see how the Sussexes can give up both the Netflix and book deal. They wouldn’t be living in a Montecito cottage; they’re more likely to be living somewhere in downtown LA in a little hovel; that’s their problem – they’re stuck now.”
Bower also added: “[The] only way I can conceive of Harry getting out of it now is if his father King Charles III could ‘bail him out.'”
It is safe to say that King Charles is not going to help his son and daughter-in-law because it goes against his vision of the monarchy.
