It is official, Buckingham Palace has announced that on May 6th, King Charles III will have his coronation ceremony.
It will be a watered-down event compared to the pageantry and wealth flaunting of Queen Elizabeth II‘s coronation over 70 years ago.
King Charles plans to have about 2000 leaders and dignitaries at Westminster Abbey. His Majesty‘s wife, Camilla, the Queen Consort, will also be crowned during the historic ceremony.
Thus far, the King is keeping the list of invitees close to the vest, and it has led to a long list of speculations.
Will former Presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama attend the event?
Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle join the rest of the Royal Family for the grandiose ceremony?
A friend of King Charles spoke to The Daily Beast and revealed that he plans to send out invitations to Prince Harry and Markle with strings attached.
According to the pal of the Sovereign, he has an ultimatum for his son — he has to pick between slamming Camilla Parker Bowles and attending the ceremony.
His Majesty is anxiously waiting for Prince Harry’s tell-all book, due in early 2023, to find out if he shares any embarrassing revelations about his stepmother.
If the California resident brings back old pains and scandals to the surface, he and Markle will be banned from the coronation.
The friend explained to the media outlet: “Almost everything Charles has done over the past twenty years has, in one way or another, been about getting Camilla accepted by the public. He loves her. He is incredibly protective of her, and he couldn’t do it without her. Even the queen finally accepted that.”
Laying out the ultimatum, the pal revealed that King Charles would easily pick his wife over his son if he is forced.
The person familiar with the situation claimed: “It is one thing for Harry to attack Charles, he can take it on the chin, but if Harry forces him to choose by laying into Camilla in his book, I have no doubt he will choose Camilla.”
Katie Nicholl, the author of The New Royals and Vanity Fair‘s royal correspondent, told The Daily Beast that King Charles is expecting full respect from Prince Harry and added: “There is no doubt that Charles would like Harry and Meghan to be at his coronation. And to be fair to Charles, he has been magnanimous in terms of extending, very publicly, olive branches to the Sussexes, not only in his televised accession address but also putting them front and center at the funeral events.”
She continued: “But he does expect respect in return, and a problem is going to arise if, between now and then, Harry repays him by attacking him, Camilla, or the institution. He is not going to put up with inaccurate and unfair attacks.”
King Charles will follow in his mother’s footsteps and be ruthless when it comes to protecting the monarchy. Prince Harry received this warning: “The queen was ruthless when it came to protecting the institution, and Charles will be too, and we are possibly seeing that in the lack of urgency around naming Archie and Lilibet prince and princess. My understanding is that Charles is not averse to granting them titles, but he expects to see respect from the Sussexes in return. The ball is in the Sussexes’ court. The royals, just like the rest of us, are waiting to see what they will do next.”
