King Charles III is not the only member of the British monarchy who is trying to send some positive signals to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
It was recently revealed that the Sovereign keeps a wedding photo of the California residents in his office. This was discovered while the King was welcoming UK Prime Minister Liz Truss for a meeting.
This time, in a new photo shared by Queen Consort Camilla, supporters noticed a photo of the Royal Family in the background. It includes the renegade royals. The image was taken at Prince Louis‘s christening in 2019.
Just as with her husband, many observers saw this kind gesture as an olive branch. This is a huge change from last month.
During the mourning period for Queen Elizabeth II, the Royal Family showed unity. However, it was also clear that most senior members were determined to keep the power couple at a certain distance.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were reminded at every turn that they were no longer working royals. They handled the humbling experience with a lot of calm and dignity.
They have avoided grabbing headlines and making a scene. By doing this, the focus could remain on the legacy of the late Monarch and King Charles’s ascension to the throne.
After their return to California, the Sussexes continued on the same path. However, this posture is not expected to last forever. The couple is getting ready to release their Netflix docu-series later this year.
Prince Harry is set to publish a tell-all memoir in early 2023 via Penguin Random House. Those two projects are expected to cover some of the palace intrigues in the Royal Family.
This simple fact is keeping many royals up at night. They fear that the power couple will come after them. Camilla Parker Bowles, who is often blamed for the end of Prince Harry’s parents’ marriage, is on top of the list.
The activist could use the memoir to settle some scores with her. A few observers believe that the sweet gestures are a way to keep the Sussexes in line.
King Charles seems to be hoping that those moves might be enough to prevent the couple from going “nuclear” against the monarchy. Even when a perceived dig starts to gain traction, the clan rushes to deny the whole thing.
For example, King Charles’s coronation date (May 6) will coincide with Archie‘s fourth birthday. Many interpreted the date as a way to go after the Sussexes.
However, sources close to The Palace say that is not the case. One insider told Page Six: “They looked at what was happening in Britain. They didn’t look at what was happening in Montecito (where the Sussex family currently resides). The idea that anyone was concerned with that is nonsense.”
The Royal Family is determined not to make their issues with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle too obvious. Will the appearance of peace be enough to prevent a “war” between the two sides?
