Meghan Markle Shares Oprah Winfrey’s Feelings About Queen Elizabeth

Prince Harry Meghan Markle Charles Situation

Meghan Markle‘s recent interview with Variety was published on Wednesday. The former American actress took part in the lengthy sit-down and photoshoot several weeks ago, but it was postponed because of Queen Elizabeth II‘s death.

The Queen passed away on September 8 while on summer break in Scotland.

Markle stayed in London with her husband, Prince Harry, to attend the many religious and somber events before and after Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral.

The activist attended the historic event held at Westminster Abbey with King Charles III, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.

Markle decided to redo her entire interview with the publication in order to share her private feelings about the Queen’s passing.

She also opened up about the legacy that Prince Harry’s grandmother left behind after 70 years of service and dedication to the monarchy and the British people.

Markle confessed that she had a great relationship with Queen Elizabeth and added: “I’ve reflected on that first official engagement that I had with her, how special that felt. I feel fortunate. And I continue to be proud to have had a nice warmth with the matriarch of the family.”

Markle went on to reveal that Queen Elizabeth exemplified women’s leadership, and she feels privileged to have had a front-row seat to witness her work.

The podcast host stated: “What’s so beautiful is to look at the legacy that his grandmother was able to leave on so many fronts. Certainly, in terms of female leadership, she is the most shining example of what that looks like. I feel deep gratitude to have been able to spend time with her and get to know her. In big moments in life, you get a lot of perspectives. It makes you wonder what you want to focus your energy on. Right now, we feel energized and excited about all of the things we’ve been building toward. We’re also focused on our foundation. So much of the work we do includes the philanthropic space.”

Royal observers were quick to notice that Markle and her friend and media mogul Oprah Winfrey share the same sentiments when it comes to the late Sovereign.

They view her as a remarkable female leader who leaves shoes impossible to fill because of the way she conducted herself and her accomplishments.

Oprah did an interview days after the Queen died where she revealed to ET: “I was hiking in Maui when I heard that she passed. I think losing her is losing one of the great women of service in the world. Nobody’s done it better.”

Great minds do think alike.
