In the book The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown, by Kate Nicholl, she reveals that the new Queen “sometimes calls the shots” in Buckingham Palace.
Camilla, the Queen Consort, influences some of King Charles’s personal and professional choices. King Charles runs major decisions and speeches with his wife for her opinion and approval.
According to Nicholl, the Queen was a determining factor in the 2021 firing of King Charles’s closest aide, Michael Fawcett.
The high-ranking royal staff member was embroiled in a scandal involving a Saudi tycoon. It was claimed that a knighthood was inappropriately given in exchange for $2 million in donations to The Prince’s Foundation. Fawcett eventually resigned from his position as CEO of the foundation.
An unnamed friend of Camilla’s told Nicholl that Queen Consort told her husband to remove Fawcett from his post, and he listened to her advice.
The author claimed: “She said Michael had to go, and she essentially ousted him. She was never really a fan of Fawcett, and she could see how damaging this could be to Charles’ reign.”
Camilla, Queen Consort, not only has The King‘s ear, and she has his heart.
King Charles can leave Prince Harry and Markle humiliated by not inviting them to his coronation ceremony if they stain her fragile reputation in new interviews or the tell-all book.
A friend of Camilla, Queen Consort, told The Daily Beast: “Almost everything Charles has done over the past 20 years has, in one way or another, been about getting Camilla accepted by the public. He loves her. He is incredibly protective of her, and he couldn’t do it without her. Even the queen finally accepted that. It is one thing for Harry to attack Charles, he can take it on the chin, but if Harry forces him to choose by laying into Camilla in his book, I have no doubt he will choose Camilla.”
