Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, do not have many fans in the Palace. Some former staff members have said that they were difficult to deal with.
Buckingham Palace even launched an investigation into bullying claims after they left their royal duties. The findings were never made public because Queen Elizabeth reportedly wanted to protect their image.
However, some experts have said that the investigation was just a bargaining chip to keep the couple in line after the Oprah Winfrey interview.
The plan has worked to some extent because The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have avoided making brutal comments about the British monarchy after that.
While the pair is more subtle in their criticism of the Royal Family, tension remains high between the two sides even after the passing of The Queen.
King Charles III is not making any concessions and believes toughness is the only way to deal with the two activists.
The Sovereign has gone as far as punishing his own grandchildren to protect the monarchy. Archie and Lilibet Diana still do not have the titles of prince and princess.
This is something that should have been done automatically, but in the feud against the Sussexes, nothing is ever simple. Moreover, there is a possibility that Prince Harry might not even be at his father’s coronation in 2023. The date coincides with Archie’s fourth birthday.
Some even say that King Charles chose that day as a dig at his son. While the couple stayed quiet during the mourning period in England and took all the hits without responding, they will remain true to themselves.
This means that it will be hard for the Royal Family to silence them regardless of the cost. Moreover, Markle is now embracing the tag of being a “particular” woman after getting called “difficult.”
Instead of hiding from what critics say about her, she is turning the mirror on them. On the latest episode of her Archetypes podcast, she shared the following: “I’m particular; I think a high tide raises all ships; we’re all going to succeed, so let’s make sure it’s really great because it’s a shared success for everybody.”
She continued: “But I also find myself cowering and tiptoeing into a room and – the thing I find most embarrassing – when you’re saying a sentence and the intonation goes up like it’s a question. And you’re like, ”oh my God, stop, stop like whispering and tiptoeing around it. Just say what it is that you need. You’re allowed to set a boundary. You’re allowed to be clear; it doesn’t make you demanding. It doesn’t make you difficult; it makes you clear.”
The chat with actress and producer Issa Rae was centered around the “Angry Black Woman Myth.”
Markle later added: “It is time to try on what it feels like when we’re allowed to just live our truths… to be direct without being called angry, to exist on our own terms, to just be, to just be human.”
While the message was not directed at King Charles, the subtext is clear. It will be near impossible to keep the couple away from their truth bombs. Prince Harry has said similar things when talking about his upcoming tell-all memoir.
They are just living their truths. King Charles might not like it, but he will have to find ways to accept reality.
