The former Mad Men star and his wife, Lisa Rinna, recently attended a New York Fashion Week event with their daughter, Delilah Belle Hamlin.
The trio confirmed that they are fashionistas on their own merits, with Rinna turning heads in a skin-tight white gown. As for the young model, she opted for an ombré black to gray top and matching skirt.
When it comes to Harry Hamlin, he went for a classy look of a black shirt, matching pants, and a gray jacket. He completed the look with edgy boots.
Harry Hamlin took photos with his spouse and later played the peppered hair model next to his influencer daughter. The snaps of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star and her husband went unnoticed.
However, one photo featuring the entrepreneur and his daughter rapidly went viral and caused a major controversy.
The much-talked-about picture has Harry Hamlin standing next to his daughter, and he appears to be leaning near her face as she strikes a fierce model pose.
Thousands rushed to social media to call the father of three harsh names. These same people deemed the pose and interaction “awkward,” “gross,” “creepy,” and “provocative.”
Others stepped in to defend the pair by saying that they were trying to be artsy and that it was time to normalize love and affection between fathers and daughters.
Explaining the sacred bond between a father and his child, a commentator said in part: “The love a father and daughter share is sacred! Not many have it or can understand it! My dad was and will always be my hero! My most precious love!”
The scandal reached Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna’s ears, and they decided to react.
A family friend spoke to Page Six to say that Rinna, her spouse, and the rest of the Hamlin clan are upset and disgusted by the comments about the dad and his beautiful daughter.
The family is horrified that the media has also twisted the narrative to be something it was not.
The person in the know told the media outlet: “Lisa Rinna is disgusted by all the shameful commentary.”
The source shared the picture’s backstory by revealing that Hamlin was telling his daughter he was proud of her.
The insider stated: “He is a proud father who was just about to whisper in her ear how proud he is of her.”
The photographer behind the photoshoot, Manny Carabel, told Page Six that he is “absolutely horrified and so distraught” over fans’ reactions.
Carabel added that he is upset that a “two-minute series of photos taken manipulated into something they were not” and “flipped completely out of context.”
He also revealed: “As Delilah has a history in modeling, she immediately began to strike a pose, if you will, while Harry innocently posed next to her in [a position] he thought would compliment her best, as any father would. In no way were any of [Harry’s] movements or demeanor flirtatious, inappropriate, or anything derailed from being a loving father.”
The controversy seems to be a big surprise for the family.
