Nick Lachey Takes A Dig At Jessica Simpson When She Is Already Down

Nick Lachey Jessica Simpson Marriage

While it might not have been intentional, Nick Lachey seemingly took a shot at his first wife, Jessica Simpson, while she was already down.

The music star and his second wife, Vanessa Lachey, are the hosts of the dating reality series Love is Blind that airs on Netflix.

During the season three reunion show, Nick Lachey happily bragged about his failed marriage to Jessica Simpson.

While talking to former contestant Matt Bolton, Lachey made the following comment: “…marriage is always better the second time.”

After the jaw-dropping remark, the two men laughed and shared fist-bumps. Bolton also told Lachey, “cheers to that.”

Bolton, who was married to his high school sweetheart, met his second wife on the reality series.

Many people, who support Jessica Simpson, quickly jumped on social media and slammed her ex-husband for his unkind confession.

A fan said the comment was “so tasteless,” and another claimed it was uncalled for.

Lachey and Simpson were married from 2002 until 2006 and shared their love story on the MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.

In 2011, the lead singer of 98 Degrees wed Vanessa Minnillo. As for Simpson, she married former football player Eric Johnson in 2014.

In her memoir Open Book, Simpson had a lot to say about her marriage to the boy band member.

She said he was her first love. She gave him her virginity and had no regrets that their love story ended.

She wrote: “Nick loved the fact I was so strong in my faith and that I had this wide-eyed innocent approach to life. When he proposed in 2002, I said yes. We were young and pioneering our way through reality television, always mic’ed and always on. We worked, and we were great at it, but when it came time to being alone, we weren’t great at it anymore.”

She added: “I was 22, and I had just pledged my life and destiny to this man. And I don’t regret it. Nick was meant to be my husband. No one else was supposed to have my virginity.”

Nick Lachey’s snarky comments came at a bad time for Jessica Simpson, who was already having a tough week.

The businesswoman was mocked and sparked concerns after appearing in an ad for Pottery Barn where she slurred her words.

She fought back using music and these powerful words: “After grounding myself just now with my voice and the lyrics across my heart, I feel compassion for the opinionated hate that some people can so effortlessly just blurt out with such intensity on social media or in the media in general. We all have our days of wanting to be, look, do, and feel better. Nobody is alone with that feeling’ that I can promise you. I woke up at the same time anxious and insecure but also angry and defensive — like some of you. ”

Some Lachey backers say he was just showing love to his second wife with the comment.
