After many years, King Charles III has been able to carefully craft the image of a royal who is tough and knowledgeable.
His wife has described him as a workaholic who puts in the hours and energy to grow the royal family business.
Prince Harry claims that he was an absent father who was emotionally unavailable. And a close friend of Prince William confirmed that he was rarely there when he needed him.
Prince William has vowed to take a different route and be present for all the priceless moments of his children’s lives.
King Charles’s late wife, Princess Diana, also painted him in a negative light during her many interviews.
And the media view him as a man with a short temper — the incident with the pens comes to mind.
The Netflix hit series The Crown has decided to revisit King Charles’s life — all of it.
The show will not only deal with his tough and no-BS personality but will dig up his and Camilla, Queen Consort‘s past secrets.
The new season is focused on the worst years of King Charles’s life — his failed marriage, the cheating allegation, and the many humiliating scandals he was associated with.
While the show is fiction, it is also loosely based on factual events that occurred in Camilla, Queen Consort, and King Charles’s lives.
A friend of King Charles recently spoke to Katie Nicholl at Vanity Fair and explained that he is frustrated by the show.
King Charles and his spouse have stopped watching the series. According to the friend, King Charles is emotional about the matter because it digs at his most profound insecurity — his past.
The royal author said: “I am told that there are concerns at the highest level that this season could have a real impact on Charles and Camilla’s popularity. Just months into his reign, Charles is said to be privately frustrated that there are so many headlines about The Crown. A former courtier once told me that one of Charles’s greatest concerns about becoming king was that he would always be haunted by his past.”
King Charles and Camilla, Queen Consort, fear that their popularity worldwide will take a hit.
The writer stated: “The main problem is that Netflix has such a huge subscription that The Crown has a global following, and Charles cares about that. While most British people of a generation are very familiar with this period of royal history, many more don’t know the ins and outs of the monarchy or how it works, and if they base their knowledge on what they see in The Crown, that is problematic for the royal family.”
King Charles has put out his truths and takes on those aiming for his reputation. According to the royal commentator, he is far from being the tough royal portrayed on the show.
He is a self-deprecating grandfather with a passion for trees. The expert shared: “Charles, as a person, is very self-deprecating. He’s always saying, ‘I’m an old man, no one takes any notice of me,’ and he doesn’t mind people having a pop at him, but this is too close up and personal.”
It will be interesting to see if he will show more of this side of his personality as The King.
