For being courageous, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to be honored with a prestigious award next month.
The power couple will be honored with the Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award on December 6th in New York.
Kerry Kennedy, the daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy, rapidly answered the question that has been bothering many royal observers — what have Markle and Harry done to be honored alongside a hero like Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy?
Kennedy cited their brave decision to tackle racism inside the British monarchy. The activist and philanthropist said The Duke and Duchess of Sussex should be recognized with the prestigious prize because they were able to put the light on structural racism in the monarchy.
Via PEOPLE and El Confidencial’s Vanitatis magazine, She stated: “They went to the oldest institution in UK history and told them what they were doing wrong, that they couldn’t have structural racism within the institution; that they could not maintain a misunderstanding about mental health.”
Kennedy, who will host the awards, added: “They knew that if they did this, there would be consequences, that they would be ostracized, they would lose their family, their position within this structure, and that people would blame them for it. They have done it anyway because they believed they couldn’t live with themselves if they didn’t question this authority. They have been heroic in taking this step.”
Many members of the Royal Family are now trembling at the thought that Prince Harry and Markle will take the stage during the big soirée and deliver an acceptance speech.
Royal observers believe that it might be one of the most important and possibly controversial speeches delivered by the pair because it will focus on topics such as slavery, racism, lack of diversity, and colonialism.
King Charles III and the monarchy will be painted as the villain colonizers by the media after that speech is broadcast, and there is not much he can do to spin or fix it.
Some say Prince Harry and Markle are willing to provoke another crisis in the Royal Family as they did with the Oprah Winfrey interview when they revealed that a member of the British monarchy made racist remarks about their unborn children.
Prince Harry and Markle’s “insulting” appearance at the event has pushed a British author and former member of the government to demand that King Charles finally take action and remove Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal titles “swiftly and decisively.”
Nile Gardiner, a foreign policy analyst and former aide to Margaret Thatcher, said: “A ridiculous award for Meghan and Harry and a disgraceful attack on the British Monarchy. Duke and Duchess of Sussex to receive human rights award for ‘heroic stand’ against royal ‘racism.'”An insult to the British Monarchy. Meghan and Harry should be stripped of their royal titles swiftly and decisively.”
The Sussexes will be really busy in the upcoming weeks.
