Speculations ran wild for many months about when and where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s baby daughter, Lilibet Diana, would be christened.
The media and inside sources claimed that Prince Harry and Markle wanted Lilibet to receive the same royal christening as her older brother, Archie.
Baby Archie was christened during a grand religious ceremony at Windsor Castle with the entire Royal Family present.
Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III, Prince William, and Kate Middleton were all in attendance.
The ongoing drama because of “Megxit,” the Oprah Winfrey interview, and the couple’s refusal to remain apolitical frustrated Queen Elizabeth.
It is believed that Prince William also played a heavy role in convincing Queen Elizabeth not to give Lilibet the royal christening.
Reports later surfaced that Prince Harry and Markle were humiliated by the Queen‘s rejection and opted to have a simple religious ceremony in a California church.
After all the chatter, rumors, and mystery, Prince Harry, Markle, and their billionaire and close friend, Tyler Perry, opened up about Lilibet Diana’s christening.
In the last episode of Harry & Meghan, Tyler Perry revealed that he is Lilibet’s godfather. He explained that he was moved when Markle and Harry asked and added: “I take a minute to take that in, and I thought I’d be honored. I’d absolutely be honored.”
The business mogul made it clear that he was not interested in a lavish ceremony in an English church.
The mega-producer and actor stated: “And I got off the phone, took it all in, then I called them back, I go ‘Ah hold on a second, does this mean we got to go over there and do all of that in the church with them and figure all that out because I don’t want to do that.”
Perry said that he wanted something more intimate and concluded by saying: “Maybe we can do a little private ceremony here and let that be that, and if you have to do it there, then it’s OK.'”
In the bombshell series, Perry made the surprising revelation that he had never met Prince Harry and Markle prior to him receiving a phone call from Markle while in Canada after they stepped down from their royal duties.
Markle broke down in tears after the Royal Family stopped paying for their security in the middle of the pandemic.
Perry offered his private jet to travel to California and his $18 million mansion for the family to live in until they were able to settle in their own home.
