Prince Harry could not have chosen a worse time to insult the King, no, not King Charles III, Elvis Presley.
In his bestselling book Spare, Prince Harry shared his opinion on everything under the sun. The Duke of Sussex surprised his millions of readers by talking about the King of Rock n’ Roll.
The British prince revealed that he visited Elvis Presley’s Memphis home Graceland. It is also a massive property and entertainment complex that includes museums, restaurants, and more.
The rock and roll singer and his only daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, are buried there. When Prince Harry visited Elvis Presley’s mansion, he was not impressed by what he saw and made his feelings known.
Prince Harry wrote: “People variously called the house a castle, a mansion, a palace. But it reminded me of the badger sett. Dark, claustrophobic. I walked around saying, ‘The King lived here, you say? Really?’”
Prince Harry had some harsh words for the decor on Elvis Presley’s estate. According to Prince Harry, the furniture, linens, and paintings must have been selected by someone on drugs.
He added: “I stood in one tiny room with loud furniture and shag carpet and thought, ‘The King’s interior designer must have been on acid.’”
Elvis Presley lived at Graceland from June 1957 until his death in 1977. The Rock and Roll singer and actor and his wife, Priscilla Presley, lived at Graceland, and their only child, Lisa Marie Presley, was born there.
Elvis Presley’s mother, Gladys Presley, was the one who decorated Graceland and was the mistress of Graceland for many years.
Elvis Presley was adamant that Graceland would remain the way his mother designed it and was beyond upset with his stepmother making some changes.
According to confirmed reports: “Vernon (Elvis’s father) had settled down with Dee where Gladys had once reigned, while Dee herself – when Elvis was away – had taken over the role of mistress of Graceland so thoroughly as to rearrange the furniture and replace the very curtains that Gladys had approved of.” This was too much for the singer, who still loved his late mother deeply. One afternoon, “a van arrived … and all Dee’s household’s goods, clothes, ‘improvements,’ and her own menagerie of pets, were loaded on … while Vernon, Dee, and her three children went by car to a nearby house on Hermitage until they finally settled into a house on Dolan Drive which ran alongside Elvis’ estate.”
Graceland gets more than 600,000 visitors per year and is the second-biggest tourist attraction in the United States after the White House.
Especially in light of the recent passing of Lisa Marie Presley, many fans of The King are angry by Prince Harry’s confession, and they have taken to social media to share their anger.
In his new autobiography, Meghan Markle‘s husband spoke about his troubled childhood, his late mother, and the complex relationships with his father, King Charles, and brother Prince William.
He put his stepmother, Camilla, Queen Consort, on notice with multiple paragraphs that exposed her as a villain and the other woman who sacrificed him at the PR altar.
Prince Harry detailed his many embarrassing fights with Prince William, whom he views as violent.
He did not spare Kate Middleton, who is often described as a cold-hearted woman determined to compete against Meghan Markle.
Prince Harry also opened up about his drug usage, his virginity, and love-making sessions with Markle.
