Prince Harry has told the world that he wants peace to reign in the Royal Family, and now King Charles III and others are bluntly stating their demands.
While promoting his record-breaking memoir, Spare, Prince Harry sat down for interviews with journalists Anderson Cooper, Tom Bradby, and morning TV host Michael Strahan.
Prince Harry shared damaging secrets about King Charles, Prince Wiliam, and Camilla, Queen Consort, but he also requested an apology.
Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, made the bold demand that the royals publicly or privately apologize to him and his wife, Meghan Markle, for all the pain and suffering they had caused them during the brief era when they were working royals in England.
Prince Harry also stated that he wants the British family to finally take full accountability for leaking humiliating stories that ruined their reputations and harmed their mental well-being.
Prince Harry said via the Telegraph: “You know what you did, and I now know why you did it. And you’ve been caught out, so just come clean.’ ‘It was all so avoidable. But they just couldn’t help themselves.”
In his Netflix series, Prince Harry also shared: “I’ve had to make peace with the fact that we’re probably never going to get genuine accountability or a genuine apology.”
Thus far, the royals have refused to give Prince Harry and Markle what they are asking for, but things might change in the future.
According to royal commentator Afua Hagan, who spoke to Express, King Charles and other royal family members might be willing to extend the apology that Prince Harry is desperately seeking. Still, he and Markle need to take public responsibility for their behavior.
The royal expert revealed: “Harry certainly wants an apology from the Royal Family for the planting of the stories, especially for not defending him and Meghan, for not really being there for them in the way that they needed them. I think reconciliation will take an apology from the Royal Family to Harry and Meghan and accountability on both sides, more accountability from the Royal Family for the things that they have done and perpetuated.”
She laid bare the actions Markle and Prince Harry needed to take to reach a place of reconciliation with the royals.
She said: “I think that Harry and Meghan also need to take some accountability as well. The Royal Family won’t want it to be them just apologizing and Harry and Meghan going thank you and walking away. They’re going to want something as well.”
The Sussexes have not shown a willingness to go in this direction.
