King Charles III‘s decision to have Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at his coronation ceremony is terrible news for Prince William.
The heir to the throne has been hurt and humiliated by the Netflix series Harry & Meghan and the tell-all book Spare.
Prince William has made it clear to his father that he does not want the runaway royals at the event set to take place on May 6.
However, King Charles, via his associates, has told the world that he looks forward to having both sons at the coronation.
Prince William has found a winning yet brutal argument about why Prince Harry and Markle should remain in California during the festivities.
Royal expert Charlotte Griffiths explained that Prince William no longer trusts Prince Harry and Markle.
The future King of England believes that if the pair attends the coronation, they will pull some stunt that will cause public humiliation to the Royal Family.
The author noted: “There is this lack of trust between William and Harry. William, as the Mail of Sunday reported on the weekend, fears Harry might pull some kind of stunt while he’s over. That’s one of his big fears.”
The Mail on Sunday royals editor was asked what kind of stunt the renegades might have up their sleeves, and she revealed: “Like a walkabout in an impoverished borough of London. Something unscripted, basically, not part of the program. There was a little bit of a sense of that after the Queen died… Meghan and Harry made a huge kerfuffle over going on a walkabout to greet mourners in Windsor.”
She went on to explain that Prince William stepped in to rectify the situation before it occurred.
She said: “So, William intervened, and in the end, they had that really awkward walkabout, the four of them, after the Queen died. I wonder whether there’s a fear that something like that might happen again. You can’t trust him at all.”
Prince William might be trying to do the same for the coronation — avoid the drama before it takes place.
As for Prince Harry, he has yet to decide if he and his family will attend the event.
Prince Harry is said to be frustrated that his brother has failed to apologize for the pain he caused him and Markle.
The source said: “No apology to Meghan [Markle] has been made by the Palace, which frustrates Harry. Nor has he received a personal apology. He was hoping his family, especially William, would lay their cards on the table and have an open conversation with him, but they haven’t made progress.”
The two sides are looking for ways to avoid each other.
