Aubrey Plaza stole the spotlight at the SAG Awards for many reasons. The actress captivated all on social media with her stunning yet daring dress and further created lots of buzz with her demeanor as the cast of White Lotus took the stage after a big win.
The Parks and Recreation actress had many saying that she looked annoyed and even angry while her co-star delivered the acceptance speech after the series won Best Ensemble in a Drama Series.
Others believe that Aubrey Plaza was maybe upset because she was warned that she was about to have a wardrobe malfunction because of her risqué dress.
Aubrey Plaza’s co-star, Jon Gries, who was on stage with her and who told her about the potential fashion disaster has been interviewed to explain what truly happened at the award ceremony.
Talking to Page Six, Gries, who played Tanya McQuoid’s terrible husband, said that Plaza was stuck in an awkward position on stage because there were 15 people blocking her.
The actor stated: “She was being blocked by about 15 people, so I told her to look to the front.”
He also confessed that he told the star that her dress was showing a lot of underboobs.
He said: “You might want to fix that first. I think what she was intimating is, why would that be a problem if my nipple is showing.”
He claimed that Plaza mouthed the words “Jesus Christ” and “That’s her humor — She has that dry, dead-pan wit; that’s her biting wit. because she was just being funny.”
The situation got even more complicated because Aubrey Plaza was not allowed to speak. Instead, F. Murray Abraham delivered a little speech on the cast’s behalf.
Gries said after the viral moment, he sent Plaza a text message saying: “You weren’t really upset?” She replied: “No! Not at all!”
A source close to the cast spoke to the Daily Mail about what was perceived as an on-stage temper tantrum to say the following: “Aubrey is extremely expressive, and she is also very sarcastic. She is very proud of her work on White Lotus.”
The person added: “There were a couple of different things going on at that moment. First, she was told that her boob was hanging out, which would cause any woman to be uncomfortable. Then she was almost elbowed in the face, and her reaction was a direct result of that.”
Plaza’s stylist, Jessica Paster, also defended her bold and daring dress by saying: “did 7 fittings .. for real … I wanted underboob 😍.”
The incident grabbed headlines and upstaged the show’s big moment.
