Prince Harry and Meghan Markle pulled a massive ace off their sleeves this week.
The California couple shared a short and well-crafted statement about the christening of their daughter that featured a significant surprise.
Markle and her husband dropped the news that their children — Archie and Lilibet — had received their titles. The children are now known as Princess Lilibet of Sussex and Prince Archie of Sussex.
Moments after the change was made, a deluge of information about the wheeling and dealing that took place between the Royal Family and the Sussexes to reach this point was revealed.
Friends of King Charles III and Prince William were quick to speak to the media to share their thoughts on the fact that Markle and Prince Harry decided that their children would have their birthright titles.
According to the Daily Beast, Prince William is not happy with the way that the story of his nephew and niece unfolded.
The heir to the throne is furious that Markle made it look like an evil plot by King Charles and the monarchy to punish the first mixed members of the Royal Family by denying them what is rightfully theirs.
Prince William was further angered because he believed that Markle and Prince Harry were pushing the vile narrative that his children received their titles immediately while Archie and Lilibet had to somehow earn theirs.
As soon as King Charles became the Monarch, the royal titles for Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, were updated.
However, King Charles ignored Archie and Lilibet for almost seven months.
Prince William did not mention his father’s dithering. Instead, he slammed Markle’s mean comments during the Oprah interview, where she stated that Archie was denied the honor because of the color of his skin.
A friend of Prince William revealed that he is livid and sad and added: “Meghan made out there was some dastardly plot to favor William’s kids over Harry’s. That really hurt William. Now everyone can see that was never the case.”
During the sit-down with Oprah, Markle confessed: “They didn’t want him to be a prince . . . which would be different from protocol, and that he wasn’t going to receive security…we have in tandem the conversation of. He won’t be given security. He’s not going to be given a title.’ And also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”
It is believed that Markle was fearful that King Charles would not bestow the titles to children because he had plans to downsize the monarchy.
