A new book on the complex love affair between the heir and future Queen Consort revealed a few embarrassing moments.
Royal author Tom Quinn, who is promoting his new book titled Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, was interviewed by Fox News to talk about some of the secrets that royal staff members, friends, and sources have said about Prince William and Middleton’s high-profile romance.
The author revealed that, like many couples, Middleton and the future King have fights and arguments. However, sometimes, things go too far.
According to the royal expert, during some heated and harsh exchanges, Prince William and Kate Middleton will throw objects at each other.
The writer also revealed that the parents of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis also have a list of not-so-nice nicknames for each other.
Middleton calls her husband baldy because he loves to mock her long hair. Prince William picked the name “DoD,” which stands for “Duchess of Doolittle.”
The mean name was initially given to Middleton by Queen Elizabeth II, who criticized her for not having a full career before she married Prince William and became a member of the Royal Family.
The writer stated: “But it’s not all sweetness. They have terrible rows where they throw things at each other. Kate might seem to be a very calm person, and William also. But it’s not always true. Because the big stress for William and Kate is that they’re constantly surrounded by [palace aides]. It’s like a Jane Austen novel.”
According to the people who spoke to the author, during those passionate lovers’ quarrels, Kate Middleton will have a “Buddhist calm” while Prince William is “a bit hotheaded.”
Royal aides revealed that the duo kiss and make up after their fights. However, as quickly as they might row, the couple is said to “cozy up,” with Kate having a “Buddhist calm,” while William is “a bit hotheaded.”
Prince Harry spoke in his tell-all book Spare about his brother’s violent outbursts. Quinn used a few lines in his book to explain Prince William’s anger issues by citing his complicated and damaged childhood.
The author revealed: “Kate is very much the calm one. William is the one who’s a bit hotheaded. We see an example of that in Harry’s book… But Kate is very level-headed. She’s the one who will pour oil on troubled waters and go, ‘Let’s not stir things up. Of course, privately, William and Kate, like all couples, fall out, row, shout at each other and say unkind things to each other. Still, Kate is an appeaser by instinct, and William always gives way as he had more than enough emotional turmoil, divorce, and disruption as a child.”
The expert brought Meghan Markle into the conversation by saying that Kate Middleton’s decision to ignore it all and never complain is the only to be accepted by the royals.
He added: “Kate and Meghan [Markle] got the same nasty press coverage. But in Meghan’s case, she complained that it was unfair, it was unkind, it was horrible. That only keeps the story alive for weeks. In Kate’s case, she ignored it. She’s very wise for it. And I think when she gets into any rows with William, she does the same – she just ignores it.”
Quinn concluded with a surprising revelation — the Prince and Princess of Wales do not want to appear as “the perfect couple that everyone else should try and emulate.”
