After six years of dating, pop diva Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, have decided to go their separate ways.
Sources close to the famous and friendly exes revealed that they split a few weeks ago, just before Swift launched her massive world tour dubbed the Eras Tour.
One person familiar with the situation explained to the media that no cheating was involved. According to ET, the American singer and the British film star “had an amicable split that was not dramatic.”
Another insider, who spoke to Page Six, claimed the relationship had a natural and organic ending. This dull and quiet split implies that Swift will not drag Alwyn in her new break-up songs.
The person stated: “The relationship had just run its course. It’s why [Alwyn] hasn’t been spotted at any shows.”
Fans started speculating about the status of Swift and Alwyn’s romance after he failed to appear on the Eras Tour.
The pair worked hard for six years to keep the relationship private — almost a secret.
The power couple moved to London, shunned the spotlight, avoided social media, and rarely spoke about their private business.
When reports surfaced that Swift was engaged (after she appeared in her documentary Miss Americana and showed off what seems to be a massive engagement ring), Alwyn was quizzed about being engaged.
He told WSJ Magazine: “If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins. I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say.”
Joe Alwyn went on to reveal: “I’m aware people want to know about that side of things. I think we have been successfully very private, and that has now sunk in for people.”
Swift seldom talked about her boyfriend, instead used her songs to take fans inside her world.
On her latest album Midnights, Taylor Swift has a song entitled “Lavender Haze” that Joe Alwyn co-wrote. Swift used the lyrics to give a glimpse of her then-perfect romance.
In “Sweet Nothing,” she sings: “I found myself running home to your sweet nothings, I’ll take their pushing, shoving. You’re in the kitchen humming, all that you ever wanted from me was sweet, nothing.”
Swift, a hopeless romantic searching for a lasting relationship, has been linked to some high-profile actors, artists Tom Hiddleston, Calvin Harris, Harry Styles, and the son of American political royalty — Connor Kennedy.
