This is not the news that Prince William wants to hear — but King Charles III is now ready to start a new chapter with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
There has been a massive rift between the royals in London and the ones in Montecito due to humiliating revelations shared by the Sussexes.
However, for King Charles’s coronation ceremony, Prince Harry made a considerable effort towards the Royal Family.
He attended the ceremony, smiled and paid homage to his father, and returned to California without stealing the spotlight and did not create any further drama.
The night before the crowning ceremony, King Charles invited Prince Harry to a private dinner where they had a conversation.
Days after Prince Harry returned to his family in California, a friend of King Charles spoke to The Daily Beast to say that he was ready to reconcile.
The person in the known told the publication that he would welcome the opportunity to have peace in the family.
The royal source hinted that King Charles would be happy to even welcome Prince Harry, Markle, and their young children — Archie and Lilibet — into his London home.
The friend stated: “Of course, Charles would always welcome a reconciliation with Harry and Meghan, he has made that very clear, and his door is always open in that regard.”
This is not the news that Prince William and Kate Middleton want to hear — according to their close friends, they want nothing to have with Markle and Prince Harry.
It is also believed that Middleton and Prince William were hoping that King Charles would permanently cut ties with the runaway royals.
Colleen Harris, King Charles’s former press secretary who also worked with Prince Harry and Prince William, spoke to PEOPLE Magazine after attending the coronation to confirm that some progress has been made.
She said: “I am delighted that Prince Harry was there. He would have personally regretted it if he wasn’t there to support his father. Speaking as a mother, [I believe] it was the right thing . . . and the King [was] delighted.”
The latest developments in King Charles and Prince Harry’s rocky relationship do not imply that they will be spending the summer vacation together.
It does not mean King Charles will be traveling to California anytime soon. However, it could be the end of the nasty leaks to the media from the two parties, an open line of communication between Buckingham Palace and Montecito, and the opportunity for Archie and Lilibet to get to know their grandfather.
And perhaps, the family will reunite for the Christmas holiday.
