While it was King Charles III‘s coronation, Kate Middleton, for various reasons, had the spotlight on her.
With Meghan Markle absent from the ceremony, the fashion world focused on Kate Middleton, who turned heads in a white dress inspired by her wedding gown and royal cape.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, further grabbed headlines by arriving late at the event.
King Charles was fuming as he waited for Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their two youngest children — Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.
All eyes were on the future Queen of England because the world was eager to see her reaction to the woman often described as her nemesis — Rose Hanbury.
Rose Hanbury is allegedly a former friend of Middleton who had a lengthy affair with Prince William.
For years, the rumor of Prince William cheating on Middleton has been circulating in London’s royal and aristocratic circles.
According to sources, Middleton was said to be distraught that William, Prince of Wales, had apparently taken a mistress.
However, last year, Kate Middleton had enough, and via a close friend, she told The Daily Beast that all is well with her marriage.
At the coronation, with millions of people watching, it was the first time that Middleton and Rose Hanbury were in the same setting in a very long time.
So, how did she feel about Hanbury’s presence at the historic event? A royal insider told Radar via MSN that Kate Middleton won the moment by mastering her emotions.
The person stated: “Kate has mastered the art of being composed when the cameras are rolling, and she was quite peeved that Hanbury was present for such a historic moment. In the end, Kate made sure to keep her distance from Rose.”
Via Life & Style magazine, another source said the awkwardness was palpable in the air between the former friends despite having thousands of people between them.
The insider claimed: “You could feel the awkwardness between the two women, even though there were 2,000 other people inside Westminster Abbey. Kate couldn’t even look Rose in the eye. Rose was her BFF, and she almost tore Kate and William’s marriage apart.”
Prince William was said to have played a significant part in calming Middleton’s nerves — he told her that the cheating chatter was over and that their marriage was stronger than ever.
The person stated: “William had to calm her down when she found out that Rose was invited to the Coronation. He reminded her the cheating scandal was behind them, and they’ve come so far since then.”
Rose Hanbury caused herself some embarrassment by arriving at the coronation by wearing the identical Aquazzura shoes that Kate Middleton had one the day before.
Oddly enough, Meghan Markle wore the same Aquazzura shoes a few years ago as a working royal.
