As fans eagerly await Squid Game Season 2, more details are slowly dripping online via surprising leaks and interviews from the stars and the creator of the extraordinary show.

Netflix’s Korean-language series, which aired in late 2021, is the most-watched TV series ever, with 1.7 billion views.

The survival drama will have a second season that will arrive in late 2023 or early 2024, according to the series’ creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk.

Netflix has delighted fans with the first trailer of Squid Game Season 2 that confirmed the wild and deadly competition is still going with many new recruits.

The teaser revealed that some familiar faces would return. Seong Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-Jae, is back for revenge and will do what is necessary to end the bloody game.

The Front Man, played by Lee Byung-hun, and the man in the suit with the ddakji, played by Gong Yoo, have also returned.

Im Siwan in Squid Game Season 2?

This week, it was revealed that actor and singer Im Siwan will be starring as the lead of Squid Game Season 2.

Siwan is a member of the South Korean boy band ZE: A. He recently starred in Run On and Tracer.

When Netflix was asked about Im Siwan’s casting, it issued this ambiguous answer: “We ask for your understanding that we cannot currently confirm regarding the casting for Squid Game Season 2.”

A spokesperson for Im Siwan created more mystery with this comment: “It is information we cannot confirm. We ask for your understanding.”

Leonardo DiCaprio offered a role in Squid Game Season 3

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the brain behind the series, recently took part in an interview where he dropped some interesting information — there will be a Squid Game Season 3, and he would love to have Leonardo DiCaprio on board.

In the conversation with Variety, he said that he knows DiCaprio is a fan of the popular series and hopes he will be a guest star.

He stated: “Leonardo DiCaprio did say he’s a big fan of Squid Game, so maybe if time or chances allow, we can ask him to join the games.”

He was later forced to clarify his remarks by explaining that he could only offer Leonardo DiCaprio a spot on season 3 for the following reason: “There will be no known Hollywood actor in Season 2. That’s not in the plan, and if the stage changes, maybe in Season 3 – but for Season 2, it is still set in Korea. We will start shooting Season 2 next year, and it’ll be released the following year.”

He went on to say: “Korea has always had eyes set on a global market when we created these things [content]. I think we create high-quality content because of the highly competitive Korean society, and as a result, K-content became well-loved by people all over the world.”

Fans are looking forward to the two seasons.
