After Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, relocated to California, he told the world that while he loves being on the West Coast, England would forever be in his heart, and it remains his home.
Prince Harry and his spouse made great efforts to keep their promise of having a pied-à-terre in the UK.
For several years, they kept paying rent on their Frogmore Cottage despite buying a multi-million-dollar mansion in Montecito.
While building a new life in California, Prince Harry kept fighting in court to have adequate security in London.
The prince made it clear that he wants to travel to his home country as often as possible to stay connected to his roots.
He also insisted that he wanted his young children, Archie and Lilibet, to know about their other home.
In court, Prince Harry’s lawyer, Shaheed Fatima, stated: “This claim is about the fact that the Duke does not feel safe when he is in the UK, given the security arrangements applied to him in June 2021 and will continue to be applied if he decides to come back.”
The attorney added: “It goes without saying that he does want to come back to see family and friends and to continue to support the charities that are so close to his heart. This is and always will be his home.”
King Charles III has made it very hard for Prince Harry to keep his promise to his children. His Majesty evicted his youngest son and daughter-in-law from the royal property in early January.
Last week, in a briefing, King Charles’s royal staff member confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially vacated the home.
The Keeper of the Privy Purse, Sir Michael Stevens, said in the briefing: “We can confirm that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have vacated Frogmore Cottage. The Duke and Duchess have repaid the expenditure incurred by the Sovereign Grant in relation to the renovation of Frogmore Cottage, thus leaving the Crown with a greatly enhanced asset.”
It was also revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would have to symbolically bow to King Charles and beg him to strike a new deal to obtain a new royal home.
The Sun said: “The couple would have to reach a “private agreement” with King Charles if they wanted to stay at any royal residences in the future.”
Many royal observers say that His Majesty is twisting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s arms and forcing them to accept his rules and his terms to obtain a new property where they will have proper security and peace of mind when they travel to London with their children.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might decline to negotiate with King Charles and buy a home in London.
However, that is unlikely because the duo seems to be having financial issues after losing their lucrative deal with Spotify.
This implies that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be at the King‘s mercy if they want a proper home and security.
