Talk about planning ahead! Prince William had been preparing for months (some reports claim even years) to launch his latest endeavor — Homewards, in an effort to be closer to the British people like his mother and possibly outshine King Charles III‘s charitable works.
And to make sure that he was convincing in the role of ambassador to the homeless, the heir to the throne decided to move his family to the humblest of domains among the royal properties and castles.
In late 2022, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their young children moved from their massive apartment in Kensington Palace to a simple and rather small home in the Windsor property.
The family selected Adelaide Cottage which features four bedrooms. Many were baffled by the fact that Prince William and Kate decided not to have any living nannies in the home with them.
The pair refused to have a large staff at the cottage. Very soon after the relocation, Queen Elizabeth II passed away, and the chatter started spreading, claiming that Prince William and his spouse were eyeing a move to the Queen‘s home — Windsor Castle.
The pair denied the rumors. However, the media continued to insist there was some master plan behind the move to the charming, historic home.
In early 2023, another rumor started circulating that Prince William and his spouse were determined to get Prince Andrew booted from the Royal Lodge.
It was claimed that they were working in cahoots with King Charles III to evict Prince Andrew because they wanted the 30-room mansion for themselves.
Friends close to Prince William forcefully denied that claim and explained that they are more than happy in the small home.
One source told Page Six that the Prince and Princess of Wales are “extremely happy” at Adelaide Cottage.
It seems that it is part of a master plan put in place by Prince William, who is revamping his image. He wants to appear more humble, simple, and closer to people like his late mother, Princess Diana, while tackling his life mission of ending homelessness in England.
An associate of the future King explained that his goal is to be loved like his mother.
Richard Kay, at the Daily Mail, who called Prince William Diana’s heir, wrote this interesting piece this week about the transformation that is taking place: “So who does he take after the most? According to one of Diana’s oldest friends, William is driven by his mother’s influence. ‘He has a strong sense of duty he has inherited from his father, but everything else — and what motivates him as a parent — comes from Diana,’ says the friend. ‘He has an instinctive touch, which she had. But there is one thing I think he would like that his mother enjoyed: she was adored by people because of all the things she did. William would like to be loved like that.”
King Charles is not thrilled by his son’s latest move. A source close to King Charles stated that he was upset that Prince William declined to give him credit for his housing projects geared toward helping those in need of a roof.
To make his anger public, King Charles recently used Twitter to highlight his work.
It seems that despite King Charles’s best efforts, Prince William has outsmarted him with his well-thought-out plan to be a man of the people.
