Whether fans asked for it or not, they are getting a major update on Taylor Swift‘s complex romance with British rocker Matty Healy.
For those who were not able to follow the short-lived and controversial relationship, here is a brief recap. In early 2023, Swift shocked the world by announcing that her 6-year romance with British actor Joe Alwyn had come to an end.
It was confirmed that there was no cheating involved. Sources claimed that the couple simply grew apart because they had different priorities.
Translation: someone wanted to get married and have babies, and the other person was more focused on enjoying the single life.
Very soon after the confirmation that the duo had split, rumors started circulating claiming that the pop diva’s long-term friendship with rocker Matty Heal had blossomed into a full romance.
Matty Healy and Taylor Swift were seen on romantic outings on multiple occasions before he joined her on The Eras Tour.
Healy’s controversial past comments and decisions were dug up while he attempted to enjoy his secret affair with Swift. The weight of Healy’s scandals proved to be too heavy for the romance, and it crumbled in early June.
Fast-forward to July 6, and a new report has surfaced via The Sun explaining that the duo has rekindled the flames of love.
Many believe the story because The Sun was the first media outlet to reveal that Healy and Swift were dating.
Sources told The Sun that the duo decided to give the relationship another chance after the musician made the surprising decision to fire an unnamed female crew member from the touring party.
Healy’s band, the 1975, is currently on tour. It is not known how the sacking of the mysterious woman played a role in the reconciliation.
Friends of Healy and Swift explained that they cannot resist the passion that exists between them and added: “There is just something electric between them and they seem to have overcome it all quite quickly and decided they definitely want to make it work at all costs. They’re arranging time together in between tour dates and talking all the time. He’s utterly smitten, and it seems to be mutual.”
The source went on to explain: “One thing that was pretty telling was when a girl who had worked with the band for a while — she took care of their image, some styling, hair and make-up, that sort of thing — suddenly left. It sounds as though there may have been a bit of an issue over her closeness to Matty. One thing is for sure, he isn’t letting anything come between his chances of making it work with Taylor.”
The already complicated romance took yet another bizarre twist, with a source close to Swift speaking to PEOPLE Magazine to say that they have not reconciled.
The person familiar with the situation shared: “They are absolutely not together and aren’t even in contact anymore. She is enjoying being single and has been spending time in the studio and hanging out with friends in New York City. This is all B.S.; it’s complete nonsense. Not true at all.”
