It took a few months, some harsh poll numbers, and some slaps from reality for King Charles III to be forced to accept the uncomfortable truth about his reign: it will be nothing like Queen Elizabeth II.
The Monarch, 74, came into power with high hopes and ceiling-breaking plans for the deflated British institution.
However, he was quickly hit with a brutal reality: he is not the future of the monarchy, Prince William and Kate Middleton are.
King Charles is a certain age, and so is Queen Camilla, and they do not have a fraction of the star power and energy that Prince William and Kate Middleton possess.
King Charles and Queen Camilla had two coronation ceremonies that failed to boost their popularity or the British economy.
His Majesty has been watching a steady decline in his popularity and is facing fiery protests from Republicans who want Elizabeth II to be the last Queen of England.
Via Express, Kinsey Schofield, speaking on the MAJESTEA podcast, explained that King Charles has publicly made Prince William and Kate Middleton the center of the monarchy.
At his coronation in Scotland, King Charles seemed to acknowledge that, at his age, he cannot carry the heavy weight that comes with being the Sovereign and will rely on the heir and his spouse.
The royal expert shared: “I do think that this is the King giving us a wink. He was saying that this is me acknowledging the future, and I think it’s hopeful. I think it was beautiful.”
Co-host and royal commentator Cristo Foufas went on to say that King Charles is aware that he is immortal and added: “I think this is also [Charles saying] ‘I’m not going to be around for long’. I don’t want to be morbid, but I think that his reign will be much more about William and Kate. I think that their reign will be much more about almost handing over the baton already. Because you’ll remember, the Queen didn’t really take a step back that much until much later on in her reign.”
However, that does not mean that King Charles will retire or abdicate because of his age; instead, he will create a new version of the Fab Four.
The original Fab Four was composed of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.
This time around, the Prince and Princess of Wales and King Charles, along with his Queen, will be seen more often together.
According to the expert, there will “barely be a transition” when Prince William takes the throne because the world and media are used to him in that role.
