After having a major health scare, Jamie Foxx is speaking out. The actor and comedian shared a video on social media where he looked grateful and healthy.

Foxx began by saying thank you to all of those who supported him and his family through this difficult period in his life. In April, Foxx was rushed to a hospital in Atlanta after a medical emergency.

A mystery followed in the months after the hospitalization, which gave birth to multiple wild rumors about Foxx’s health status.

In the clip, the Oscar winner said his health scare was serious, but did not disclose why he was in the hospital. He stated that for a short period of time, his family did not know if he would survive.

As for the veil of secrecy behind his medical ordeal, Foxx explained that he did not want to show the world that he was suffering.

He stated: “I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear updates but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that, man. I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, or doing a television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

In his statement, Foxx credited his younger sister, Deidra Dixon, and his oldest daughter, Corinne Marie Foxx, for saving his life and protecting his privacy.

He revealed: “To be honest with you, my sister Deidra Dixon and my daughter Corinne Marie saved my life. To them, to God, and to a lot of great medical people, I’m able to leave you this video. I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kicked in such a way, and you all know they kept it airtight; they didn’t let anything out, they protected me, and that’s what I hope that everyone could have in moments like these.”

Jamie Foxx took the opportunity to dispel the wild rumors claiming that he is blind and paralyzed. The Grammy-winning artist told viewers: “As you can see, the eyes are working, the eyes are working just fine. I’m not paralyzed, but I went to hell and back, and my road to recovery had some potholes as well. But I’m coming back, and I’m able to work.”

He concluded by explaining that he often cries when he thinks of what he has been through.

Foxx said: “I love everybody, and I love all the love that I got… If you see me out from now on and every once in a while I just burst into tears, it’s just because it’s been tough, man. I was sick, man. But now I’ve got my legs under me, so you’re going to see me out.”

Earlier in the week, Foxx was spotted enjoying a boat ride with friends in Chicago.
