Katharine McPhee has rattled many by announcing that she and her husband, David Foster, are currently dealing with a family tragedy.
According to reports, the nanny of her child has died. The singer explained that the heartbreaking event has forced her to drop out of the remaining tour with Foster and a long list of big-name artists.
The mother of one is on a tour in Asia for what has been dubbed the David Foster and Friends tour. Katharine McPhee explained that the dire situation has pushed her to leave Jakarta, Indonesia, and return immediately to California.
McPhee was set to take part in the tour’s two final shows in Indonesia. The former American Idol contestant wrote: “Dearest Jakarta fans, it’s with heavy heart I announce I have to miss our final 2 shows of our Asia run. David and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us needs to get back home to our family.”
She continued: “Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return one day and perform for you all. Love, Katharine.”
After the story went viral, Katharine McPhee decided to close the comment in that post. However, some close friends and family members had time to react to the emergency.
Nicole Scherzinger had the following reaction: “Sending my love and prayers for your family❤️.” David Foster’s ex-wife, Linda Thompson, wrote: “Sending you and David love, & hoping that everything is OK.”
Other fans wished her well, while some were upset by the lack of information about the family emergency.
A social media user had this to say: “It amazes me that celebrities think that they can post non-stop to promote themselves, but when they post something cryptic, no one is supposed to ask any questions and they want their privacy respected. 🤷♀️”
Many backers rallied around Katharine McPhee saying that her privacy should be respected at this moment. Despite the tragedy, the show must go on for David Foster.
The legendary composer, arranger, and producer will still perform the final two shows in Jakarta, Indonesia on Friday and Saturday alongside Michael Bolton, Loren Allred, Peabo Bryson, and Raisa.
Foster 73, and McPhee, 39, have been married for four years and are parents to two-year-old son Rennie. Foster is father to Sara, 42, Erin, 40, and Jordan, 36, whom he shared with his second wife, Rebecca Dyer.
