This week, a source close to Prince Harry and the former actress sat down with Page Six for a long chat about everything. The insider spoke about the divorce rumors, the new business ventures, and their reaction after being mocked for wanting privacy.
The source told the media outlet that Markle and Prince Harry are not naive or delusional, they always knew that they would never have the privacy that they desired because they are hugely famous.
According to the person, Prince Harry and his wife blame the Palace and its residents — King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and Prince William — for pushing that foolish storyline that they were desperate to be left alone.
The insider stated: “Nobody is fighting this whole privacy issue, this whole story of ‘don’t pay attention to us, pay attention to us’, it’s a total exaggeration, because the crux of Harry and Meghan’s move, in the beginning, was mostly spun from the palace that they wanted a more private life. They know they’ll never have a private life.”
When Prince Harry and Markle sat down with Oprah Winfrey for their bombshell interview, the topic of privacy came up.
Markle hinted back that the Palace was behind the narrative that they wanted to be famous and private at the same time.
Markle said: “I think everyone has a basic right to privacy. Basic. We’re not talking about anything that anybody else wouldn’t expect.”
She added: “They created a false narrative. I’ve never talked about privacy. There’s no one who’s on Instagram or social media that would say, ‘Because I shared this one picture, that entitles you to have my entire camera roll. Go ahead and look through it.’ No one would want that. So it’s about boundaries. And it’s about respect.”
