Some royal watchers are wondering who will tell King Charles III and Prince William the truth about the endless debates about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s HRH titles.
This month, it was claimed that King Charles and royal Palace aides finally put Prince Harry and Markle in their places by officially removing the titles on the Royal Family’s website.
Buckingham Palace was not pleased that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were still being called “His and Her Royal Highness” in their official biographies, and decided to change that.
A major update took place and all references to their royal honors were erased and replaced by “the Duke or the Duke of Sussex.”
Sources from Buckingham Palace claimed it was a decisive move on the King‘s behalf to let his son and daughter-in-law know that he is the boss and what he says goes.
It was also King Charles’s way of letting Prince Harry and his wife know that they would never be welcome back in the fold after their many interviews and bombshell revelations.
The Daily Mail shared another reason for the move: “Those close to the royals, however, tell a different story. A visceral bitterness persists at the sustained attacks that Harry and Meghan have waged against family members through his memoir and their various television interviews.”
It seems that the joke is on King Charles because The Daily Mail revealed that Prince Harry and Markle can still use their Royal Highness titles despite the move.
The Daily Mail broke the baffling news to King Charles by writing: “Harry can still use the title His Royal Highness despite its deletion from the Buckingham Palace website. So too can Meghan. The Letters Patent granting the HRH honor have never been annulled, allowing them to continue to use the titles if they wish.”
The outlet noted: “The statement issued by the Palace in 2020 read: ‘The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family.’ Which is nonsense. Beatrice, Eugenie, and Prince and Princess Michael use HRH and are non-working royals. The King is hoping the fudge will hold, as he has no appetite for formally amending the rules as laid down by George V in 1917.”
It is unclear if King Charles will take extra measures to remove the titles for Prince Harry and Markle, many predict he will not and things will remain at a standstill.
