Robert O’Neill, Navy SEAL Who Killed Osama Bin Laden, Turns To Wedding Anniversary After Assault Arrest

Robert O Neill Osama Bin Laden Navy Seal Jessica Halpin

Robert J. O’Neill, the famous former Navy SEAL, who revealed to the world that he delivered the shot that killed Osama bin Laden, was arrested in Texas this week.

O’Neill was arrested in Frisco for assault and public intoxication. He was booked into jail in Collin County and released on a $3,500 bond.

Other details have not been released about the incident. The author was in Texas to take part in a podcast. He was set to talk about issues related to the military.

Robert J. O’Neill, 47, captivated the media when he claimed to be the man who fatally shot the Al-Qaeda leader during a raid ordered by former President Barack Obama in 2011.

The government never confirmed or denied the revelations that Robert J. O’Neill made about the raid. The former SEAL Team 6 member came out of anonymity and further shed light on the historical event by writing a book on the topic.

He penned the bestselling 2017 memoir The Operator. Talking about the moment that changed American history, he said: “A foot and a half in front of me was Osama bin Laden. And I shot him twice, and then once more. And it didn’t really sink in; the wife sort of came at me, and there was, like, a two-year-old kid there. So I pulled her over to the bed and grabbed the kid. And I remember thinking about grabbing the kid because he had nothing to do with this. I don’t want him to be afraid. So I picked him up and put him with the wife. I turned around; other SEALs were coming in the room, and I kind of stopped there and looked at them. … [One of the SEALs] was looking at me and said, ‘Are you OK?’ I said, ‘What do we do now?’ And he laughed and put his hand on my shoulder, and he said, ‘Now we go find the computers.”

In the past few years, O’Neill has been making headlines for a long list of surprising reasons. O’Neill was charged in Montana with driving under the influence in 2016.

However, the authorities were quick to drop the charges. In August 2020, he was banned by Delta Air Lines for refusing to wear a mask at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Taking to Twitter, Robert J. O’Neill shared a picture of himself with no mask on sitting on a plane with the following caption: “I’m not a pu*sy.”

He later added: “I am not the bad guy. I killed the bad guy.” He also wrote: “Thank God it wasn’t @Delta flying us in when we killed bin Laden … we weren’t wearing masks.”

The 47-year-old Montana native is trying to put the drama behind him, by focusing on his wedding anniversary. He married Jessica Halpin in 2017.

He wrote on Instagram: “Happy Anniversary @Jessicalynneoneill. Thank you for putting up with me! I love you.”

People close to O’Neill say that he has been through a lot and should be giving a break as an American hero.
