Kevin Costner Has Surprising Words For Estranged Wife Christine Baumgartner After Nasty Child Support Battle

Christine Baumgartner Kevin Costner Divorce

Kevin Costner stepped out for what looked like a celebratory breakfast with his son after scoring a major victory against his wife, Christine Baumgartner.

The actor and his teen son, Hayes, 14, were filmed as they arrived at a restaurant in Santa Barbara on Saturday morning.

Despite Kevin Costner’s massive fortune and the astronomical amount that he was supposed to pay for child support, he was dressed very casually in a basic pair of jeans, a simple sweater, and ordinary sneakers.

Christine Baumgartner and Kevin Costner’s son kept it simple by opting for a T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. The father and son were seen enjoying each other’s company as they ate their meals.

This is Kevin Costner’s first outing since talking about his big court win against his former wife. Kevin Costner told reporters outside the courtroom that despite his victory against Baumgartner, there is no reason to be happy.

The legendary actor stated: “This is a horrible place to be, but this is where we’re at.”

The Yellowstone alum explained that he still loves the mother of his children, despite their bitter and ugly battles.

He confessed: “It feels so bad. We’re talking about somebody I love on the other side. I just can’t.” When Costner was asked if he “still has love” for his estranged wife, he replied, “Of course.”

Baumgartner filed for divorce from Costner in May 2023 after a two-decade marriage. The former designer and the filmmaker share sons Cayden, 15, Hayes, and daughter Grace, 12.

The divorce became extremely nasty after Christine Baumgartner requested $248,000 per month in child support and the claim that he “hides money,” was made during the contentious legal battle.

She also wants him to pay $200,000 in attorneys’ fees and $100,000 in forensic costs. Baumgartner’s legal team argued: “The Court is required to set child support at a level that, when the children are with Christine, they live a lifestyle relatively comparable to the one they enjoy when they are with their father. The Court order must allow the children to be supported at a level commensurate with Kevin’s considerable wealth, even if that level of support also improves the standard of living of Christine.”

In court, Baumgartner argued that living a luxurious life “is in their [kids’] DNA at this point.”

Baumgartner also believes that children should enjoy the same lavish lifestyle with their two parents, even if that implies they will benefit from it.

She shared: “We create whatever we can dream up in here, the court order must allow the children to be supported at a level commensurate with Kevin’s considerable wealth, even if that level of support also improves [my] standard of living.”

After hearing the arguments, a Los Angeles judge handling the case has ordered Kevin Costner to pay 63,209 per month in child support.
