Britney Spears’s Boyfriend Paul Richard Soliz Defends His Complicated Criminal History

Britney Spears Boat Trip Friend

Britney Spears has a new man in her life, according to multiple reliable sources, and he has a talent that her ex-husband does not have — unclogging her toilets.

Spears’ new boyfriend, Paul Richard Soliz, also comes with a complex past. Weeks after the pop diva confirmed her divorce from husband Sam Asghari, she was seen hanging out with Soliz.

The singer was photographed by the paparazzi in Los Angeles with Soliz. Paul Richard Soliz was hired by Spears to be a housekeeper and handyman.

A source told Us Weekly that Soliz worked for Spears for about one year but was terminated about two months ago, around the same time she and Sam Asghari announced the end of their marriage.

A person in the know told the publication: “He fixed things around the house. Things like doorknobs and unclogging toilets.”

While Spears looked delighted to be spending time with her new beau, people around her have concerns for a long list of reasons.

A friend of Spears spoke to ET to say: “Paul Richard Soliz — isn’t good for her and that’s why they aren’t supportive of the relationship.” Spears likes him though because he makes her feel like he is acting as her protector and she finds comfort in that, especially as she moves through her split from Sam.”

One of the reasons why Spears’s entourage is alarmed by this relationship is because Paul Richard Soliz is a convicted criminal.

Soliz’s drama with the law started in 2004 when he was convicted of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to sell. Spears’s now-love interest was sentenced to four years in state prison.

According to court documents in 2019, he was arrested again in Los Angeles, this time for “disturbing the peace” via “offensive words.”

He spent four days behind bars and was given probation and mandatory supervision for 36 months.

His run-ins with the law do not end there; in late 2020, Soliz was arrested for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. In early 2023, he was thrown in jail for three months for possession of a firearm. He was released in May.

This week, while leaving court for a probation violation hearing, he spoke to Us Weekly where he defended his criminal history by saying that he is a good man and added: “I’m not a bad dude. I understand that things have been said about me in the past, and I have a criminal record — I get it. I’m a working man. I own my own business. I do a licensed contractor technique tile.”

He also confessed that he is currently enrolled in anger management classes. In that same interview, Soliz had some kind words about Spears whom he said was “a good person” and Asghari as a “great guy.”

Some sources told Page Six that Spears was not able to travel to Mexico with Soliz because of his issues with the justice system, adding it was a short-lived fling.

Another insider denied the split. At this point it is unclear where Spears stands with Soliz.
