So much for Prince Harry being eager to repair his relationship with King Charles III and Prince William.
For months, reports have been circulating that Prince Harry is hoping to get back on King Charles’s good side. After three years of wild revelations and accusations, the Duke of Sussex was willing, with or without Meghan Markle, to start traveling to London more often to reconnect with his family.
However, Prince Harry has all but confirmed that he has other priorities than spending time with King Charles. Prince Harry recently flew to London for a charity event and requested a room at Windsor Properties.
King Charles denied the request and instead invited his youngest son to come spend the night at Balmoral Castle, where he was holidaying for the summer.
Prince Harry turned down the offer and returned to Germany to launch the Invictus Games with Meghan Markle. Royal experts have put Prince Harry on blast, claiming he destroyed the olive branch offered by his father.
Royal expert Charles Rae told TalkTV via Express: “Charles has been criticized over the last few weeks for not doing enough to send out the olive branch and everything else. Well, here he has. He sent out a huge great big olive branch and Harry has snapped it in half.”
Rae continued by bashing Prince Harry’s decision by saying: “He’s flown more than 5,000 miles to Britain to attend a fabulous charity and his dad says ‘come up here’ because that’s where the royals are… Charles is King, but he’s also a loving father, make no doubt about that Charles loves his boys equally.”
Royal author Ingrid Seward claimed it was a missed opportunity for Prince Harry and added: “For Harry, this was a missed opportunity. He should have braved it out and gone to see them. If the King invites you to Balmoral, then most people would cancel all of their travel plans. He could have easily rearranged things slightly to allow himself the time.”
Seward also had this to say about the failed rapprochement: “Any attempts for a rapprochement must be on the King’s terms. I’m glad he is showing some backbone and offering this olive branch. But Harry must have known that not only the King but the whole of the royal camp decamp to Balmoral for the summer, and that was the only place he could go.”
To make it clear to his father and brother that he has moved on and was not interested in meeting with them after the games in Germany, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were invited to Portugal by another royal, and they happily accepted.
It has been confirmed by The Mirror via Portuguese magazine Nova Gente that Prince Harry and his wife traveled to the Alentejo region and enjoyed a “lightning romantic escape” to the village courtesy of his cousin, Princess Eugenie.
The Mirror explained that Princess Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank, “works in marketing and sales at a private resort near the village on the Alentejo coast 80 miles south of Lisbon.”
Some observers say Prince Harry is hot and cold when it comes to reconciling with the Royal Family.
