Saying that Ciara and the father of her oldest son, Future, have a complex relationship would be an understatement.
The pair dated and were even engaged in 2012. The then-couple welcomed a son named Future Zahir in 2014, and after multiple heartbreaking infidelity rumors surfaced, Ciara dumped the rapper that same year.
Ciara has moved on, she married NFL star Russell Wilson in 2016, and the couple have since welcomed daughter Sienna, 6, and son Win, 3.
Ciara is currently pregnant with her fourth child. Since the split, the former couple have been going at it for a long list of silly and serious reasons.
Future is not afraid to slam Wilson on social media and in his songs. This week, Ciara made an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, where she revealed the moment she knew it was time to end her relationship with the hitmaker.
The “Level Up” singer said at some point her taste in men changed. The artist stated: “It’s almost like your taste buds change.”
She continued by saying that after welcoming her first child, she knew it was time to take another direction with her life.
Ciara confessed: “You gotta also sometimes look in the mirror and reflect on yourself, like what are things that I could be doing differently in my life? I’m looking for a change but what does that mean?”
She explained how baby Future Zahir played a major role in her decision to leave. She stated: “No time to play around. I am now responsible for another life. So what am I doing, how am I thinking that through? When you have a child, it’s very important to me, there’s no time to play around. I am now responsible for another life, so what am I doing, how am I thinking that through?”
Ciara stated that she wanted joy in her life, and Future was not providing that for her. The R&B songstress further explained: “I want joy. I want to make sure my cup is full. When you’re tired, you’re tired and don’t, nobody wants to be tired all the time. Those are things that come to my mind when I process when I was making a pivotal moment in my life.”
Over the years, Ciara and Future have thrown massive shade at each other. Most recently, Ciara did an interview on The Shade Room in which she was asked about her co-parenting situation with Future, and she laughed uninterrupted for 30 seconds and never answered the question.
Last month, Future dropped a song entitled “Turn Yo Clic Up” where he raps, “I got it out the field / F— Russell.”
Some observers say that the rapper does that to create buzz.
