As the days go by, more embarrassing details are emerging about the failed marriage of Gordon Thornton and his estranged wife, Real Housewives of Potomac star Mia Thornton.
In September, the pair announced that they had joined the long list of celebrities who were heading to divorce court.
The couple met in 2003, got married in 2012, and share two children: son Jeremiah Carter, 8, and daughter Juliana, 6.
Mia Thornton and Gordon Thornton each have a child from previous relationships. At the time, the Thorntons issued a polished statement saying that the marriage had run its course and asked for privacy during this difficult time.
However, this week, Gordon Thornton decided to air his family’s dirty laundry in an interview with TMZ. The reality TV star revealed that he often gave his wife a hall pass to sleep with other men.
Gordon Thornton is 71 years old, while Mia Thornton is 38. He confessed that, because of his age, he felt that he could no longer satisfy Mia Gordon.
He explained to the media outlet: “I know there’s going to come a time when I probably won’t be able to satisfy all of her needs. I told her she could find what she] need[ed] elsewhere.”
According to the father of three, despite his decision to give his estranged wife permission to be with other men, she cheated and lied to him.
Gordon Thornton shared: “What really aggravates me through all of this is that I’d given her permission, and yet she still chooses to sneak around, chooses to lie, and chooses to continually change her story about what’s going on and why she’s leaving me.”
He told the media outlet that while he was sympathetic to Mia’s needs, he explicitly asked her not to give him a reason to “question her honesty and to keep the kids out of it.”
He also requested that she keep the open marriage private. He said: “I said [she] could see someone — just don’t make it public. Be careful and don’t involve the kids. Well, she’s still sneaking around and thinking that I didn’t know.”
According to Gordon Thornton, Mia Thornton is now dating a new man who is richer than him.
He stated: “I knew what was going on. Mia has upgraded to another man who has access to funds that I no longer have. I absolutely believe her leaving me now is tied to the fact that I don’t have access to assets and my funds are limited at this point in time.”
Some are wondering if more dirt is going to come out in the near future.
