Aware that he is held to a different standard, King Charles III is ready to make some changes in his household.
His Majesty is viewed as the unifier or patriarch of the monarchy, which is why many are baffled by the fact that he cannot get his own house in order.
For the past three years, King Charles has been living in a house divided: half of his family resides in London, while the others reside in Montecito, California.
For the sake of his reputation, King Charles appears to be ready to change the course of history for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
According to the latest reports, King Charles is ready to end the estrangement with Prince Harry and his spouse.
According to Dr. Ed Owens, author of After Elizabeth: Can the Monarchy Save Itself?, in private, the King has been making moves to welcome the Duke and Duchess of Sussex back to England.
He told GB News: “He is demonstrating he is ready to reconcile and that, ultimately, the onus is on them to make a decision as to whether they want to heal the wounds that have opened up between them and the rest of the Royal Family.”
Some of those decisions include the King‘s extending invitations to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle over the summer to vacation in Scotland.
Sources close to the King have spoken to the media, explaining that he has a lot of love for Prince Harry despite their tumultuous relationship.
King Charles is also open to the idea of giving Prince Harry a temporary home in one of his palaces. The Monarch has refused to remove Prince Harry’s title, and despite the fact that he lives overseas, he is determined for him to remain one of his counselors of state.
The King’s decision to welcome his son and daughter-in-law will also play in favor of his public image.
The expert claimed: “The King has done that quite successfully so far. He’s held the moral high ground, he’s presented himself as a conciliator. That is the best way to maintain his reputation as a public figure.”
Owens added: “The most important thing here is how he is viewed by his own public. The King wants to maintain a positive reputation with the British people. In that respect, the easiest solution is for him to try to maintain and keep hold of the moral high ground. So far, he’s done that. He’s done that by making it clear, sometimes through back channels.”
He concluded that King Charles will change Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s lives under one condition: there will never be a public or private apology.
The commentator stated: “That would be essentially to concede that the Royal Family had done something seriously wrong in the first place.”
Some say a full agreement is still not in the cards.
