While it might be slow, things are moving in the right direction between King Charles III, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle.
It has been confirmed by multiple reliable outlets that a miracle took place on Tuesday. The BBC and The Sun revealed that King Charles received a surprising phone call from Prince Harry.
However, what made the call extra special was the fact that Meghan Markle also spoke to His Majesty to wish him a happy 75th birthday.
It is believed that little Archie and Lilibet happily wished their grandfather the happiest of birthdays.
According to a royal source who spoke to The Sun, King Charles had a very busy schedule for his birthday that included attending charity events in his honor and royal engagements but was gracious enough to make some time to answer Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s call from Montecito.
The media outlet reported: “The gracious monarch is also understood to have spoken with his daughter-in-law Meghan during the transatlantic call on a packed day of engagements.”
It has also been revealed that the conversation was cordial between the trio.
The insider shared: “The chats were said to be friendly and cordial — the first time father and son had spoken since April, just before Charles’s Coronation.”
A source said: “The King was extremely busy but is polite and loves his son and his grandchildren, and not so mean that he would not take a call on his birthday.”
Some royal watchers view this as a big step in the transatlantic relationship between His Majesty and the Montecito royals.
However, they were also warned that one phone call is not enough to repair the damage they have caused with the Netflix series and Spare.
According to royal expert Jennie Bond: “Charles is finally taking on the role he was born for 75 years ago, and yet his reign is scarred by the rift with his younger son. In Spare Harry quoted his distraught father pleading with his sons ‘not to make my final years a misery’.But it was an appeal that has fallen on deaf ears as far as Harry is concerned.”
She added: “Much like William, the King has been badly hurt by the things that have been said by Harry and Meghan – and he was outraged by Harry’s attack on Camilla. That is going to require a great deal of explanation and apology – and there is no sign of that happening any time soon.”
Others believe that the fact that Meghan Markle was on the call and was willing to make an effort to speak to King Charles could indicate that she does not want His Majesty to live his life in misery.
They also believe that she has softened her opinion of the royals after making some harsh revelations and accusations.
In the past four years, this is the first sign that reconciliation is possible.
