After a bizarre performance, country star Wynonna Judd has decided to clear the air. Recently, the singer appeared at the CMA Awards in Nashville, Tennessee, where she performed the track “Need a Favor” alongside Jelly Roll.
Wynonna Judd raised many concerns because she looked off and confused during the performance.
Taking to social media, some claimed that the 59-year-old seemed unsteady and appeared to grip the rapper’s arm as she sang.
Others believed that she was not feeling well because she was mourning her mother and singing partner, Naomi Judd, who died by suicide over a year ago.
A few wondered if The “No One Else on Earth” singer was dealing with health issues. Wynonna Judd decided to come clean about her bizarre performance in a video that she uploaded on TikTok.
The artist said that she was nervous and was hanging on for dear life while on stage. She revealed to her followers that she was nervous and went on to say: “Okay, so they say don’t read the comments; I’ve read the comments. I’m just going to come clean with all of you. I was so freaking nervous.”
The country diva went on to admit: “I got out there, and I looked at [my duet partner] Jelly Roll. I wanted it to be so good for him. I could cry right now, but I’m not going to because I’m such a fan of his, and he asked me to sing, and I said, ‘Absolutely!’ I was so nervous, and I held on for dear life. And that’s the bottom line.”
She concluded by talking about her Back to Wy Tour. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Wynonna Judd explained that sometimes it is hard for her to get on stage as she adapts to the new reality of not performing with her mentor and mother.
She confessed: “I have my ups and my downs, and that’s life. Like the other night, I got emotional [during a concert]. I felt it, Mom. And I got overcome [with emotion], and I just said, ‘I need some water, and I need somebody to hold onto me for a second while I take a deep breath and cry.’ And I just do it because that’s the way life is.”
She also explained why she has decided to be honest and raw about her emotions and pains with her supporters.
She stated: “I knew it would be intense, but this is literally, ‘Oh, my Lord. This is me with a broken heart being as open as I’ll probably ever be, and other people are responding to that in a way that I wasn’t expecting.”
