Prince Harry has been fighting a lengthy battle not only with Prince William and King Charles III but with the British government.
The former soldier left many in disbelief when he decided to hire the most prestigious lawyers in England to go after Queen Elizabeth II‘s government.
Prince Harry launched a court attack against the Home Office, which is the ministry that manages the police, immigration, and security of the UK.
Prince Harry made the move after the Home Office’s Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC) refused to let him privately fund his own police protection while in his home country.
Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, ceased receiving personal police security when they stepped down from their royal duties in 2020.
Lawyers argued in court that Prince Harry has a right to proper police protection when he is in England by himself or with Meghan Markle and their young children — Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet — for many reasons.
His team noted that Prince Harry “inherited a security risk at birth, for life.” The Duke of Sussex is a very famous individual, he has a high royal status, his father is the King of England, he is the fifth-in-line to the throne, and he is a former soldier and therefore receives a high level of threats.
Prince Harry’s battle is still ongoing and this week, his lawyer told London’s High Court that “he had been subjected to unlawful, unfair, and unjustifiable treatment by the British government over the decision to take away his police protection.”
In a written statement read by his attorney, Prince Harry explained: “…my family cannot travel with me if it is not possible to keep them safe when they are on U.K. soil. I cannot put my wife in danger like that and, given my experiences in life, I am reluctant to unnecessarily put myself in harm’s way too.”
Weighing in on Prince Harry’s fight with the government, a royal expert and British reporter served him a brutal wake-up call by reminding him that he is not special anymore.
TalkTV broadcaster Esther Krakue told Prince Harry and Meghan Markle that they are no longer Grade A or important royals; they should accept their reality.
She slammed the couple by saying: “If you are not a working royal that is what your status is downgraded to. You cannot keep arguing that you somehow have a special place in the sky because you want you and your blushing bride Meghan and your two kids to come to this country – I don’t even know why, but that’s on him – and force the UK to set this precedent. You are not that special. I’m sorry, he needs to accept it.”
King Charles, who has declined to intervene in Prince Harry’s court drama, agrees with that statement because of a recent decision.
His Majesty now categorizes royals as Senior Royals, Working Royals, Non-Working Royals, and Others.
The King has decided to label his son and Markle “Other.” That is indeed a clear way to let him know that they are no longer special.
